Mark Jackson left him off his MVP ballot. He was All-NBA 2nd team after having a season that was statistically on rivaled by Michael Jordan and LeBron James, the two greatest players ever. Some of us knew the truth, and we stuck to it. The folks who put him 2nd team, didn't vote him MVP tried to get cute. People actually tried to argue that Jokic had an insurmountable weakness in the playoffs, even though he'd been to the conference finals, and overachieved in the playoffs for multiple years when a pair of other MVP contenders *never* did that, and are either already home or preparing to be home. lol I'm petty af, but this is so funny.

Its funny that Jokic is held to the standard that he needs to win a ring but Embiid isnt even held to a standard of 'play well in the playoffs'

Mark Jackson should automatically loose his vote. And when you think man was an NBA coach. No wonder there is a lot of talk around the league about him and why he has never got an opportunity again even if it didn't look that bad when he coached Warriors.

So… that’s 1 person who is a well known potato that wrongfully excluded Jokic from the 5 best players in the world.

Some people in the media barely had him top 10.

There was a video that spread on here earlier in the year.

The only people who think Embiid is better have a Sixers logo under their name, no coincidence. Jokic has been the best player in the league for the last three years, and this year it's not even close. Just appreciate greatness and enjoy his play.

Jokic had a historic season and his team was atop it's conference

I didn’t say anything about voter fatigue or anything like that.

OP made a thread days before any first team announcements, or the Mark Jackson news, because some people had the audacity to not have Jokic as automatic lock #1.

For what it’s worth, I would’ve put Jokic first, but the complaining about voters having a slightly different opinion is just tiresome.

Jokic is going to have more WCF appearances than first round losses. Let that sink in

lol you're missing the point, that's not why I made this thread. I made this thread because people said things like this all this year and last year:

The MVP voting, the all-nab 2nd team selection, the narratives are all the results and symptoms of empty, made up narratives and arbitrary cutoffs and probably some visual bias in the opposite way Perkins imagined lol. So when Jokic emphatically dominates the real season — the playoffs — I had to double back. Averaging a 30-point triple double on 65 TS%, I can't help but circle back. It's such an emphatic W. When I say "a lot of people look stupid," I'm really talking about these talking heads, and honestly, a lot of journalists. The truth is, Jokic has never lost a series he wasn't supposed to lose, and he's won series he wasn't supposed to. He's transcendently good in the playoffs, especially when he has help. but people have been acting like he's some unproven regular season warrior lol. So yeah man idk, there's no way around it here — my thread is valid, and videos like the one above, as well as the results of the All-NBA teams make it

Jokic has been the best and most dominant player in the playoffs through 2 rounds.

Booker and Butler were hanging tight, but they've faded.

Jokic stands alone now.

But still more work to do.

However, all "Bubble Murray carried Jokic" and all that is done. It's over.

Jokic took care of business today. Embiid didn't.

You can't not give First Team All-NBA to the MVP. To maintain the legitimacy of the award, it had to be Embiid. Of course, Embiid should never have won the MVP, but that's a different matter entirely.

This was a classic case of voter fatigue. It's happened before and will happen again. The system for anointing these awards is horribly flawed, but it is what it is.

and they accomplished that goal by having some folks vote for him as a forward :noway:
so he didn't have enough votes at Center

Bill Russel won a couple of MVP's while losing out to Wilt for first team all NBA

just saying - "can't" is a strong word :)

I really don't think we truly understand just how good this guy is. I've never seen a player like him in my lifetime. What a remarkable talent.
