Too bad.

We've had half-hearted scoring races the last 3 years.

Hopefully we get a real one sooner than later.

That's the smart thing for him to do, no point in risking injury. Good for him.

I wouldn't say something silly like Odom is a better player than Karl Malone because he's got more rings. Rings are just one thing that helps add to legend status, but it can't be used as the only barometer. Same with points scored, or whatever else.

By what metric does Kobe not deserve to be in the top ten (or any list) of the greatest players ever? He didn't win enough rings? He didn't do well in crunch time? He didn't get enough accolades? He didn't put up great numbers?

Do tell.

I know I'm really not in the argument, since I was pushing for people to stick to the point of the thread in my other post, but just for the sake of conversation...

I keep him out of my top 10, but not because of anything he lacks, just who's in the top 10. Same reason I won't give KD the MVP this year, not because he doesn't deserve it, there's just this guy named Lebron with an other-worldly season in his way. Just like there's 10 of the most dominant players the game has ever seen in front of Kobe. Not his fault that they came before him and were equally or more dominant and/ or game changing (not necessarily more skilled). (In no particular order- Shaq, Jordan, Chamberlin, Russel, Bird, Duncan, Kareem, Magic, Robertson, Baylor- West is 11 and Dr. J/ Kobe 12/13 on my list).

The benefits of him sitting and resting outweigh the risks of him playing. It's the smart thing to do.

I can get behind this post. These guys all have a great argument.

My gripe was him bringing Vince Carter in the conversation between Kobe and Jordan.

I was being sarastic.

It's silly to say, which is what my point was. It's just as silly to say Kobe is better than Jordan.

It's better to have scored and lost than never to have scored at all.

Bladers wrote:The hate this guy catches is mind blowing.

Durant goes out and jacks up 34 shots and lose to the lakers after leading by 18 and no one says a thing.
If that was Kobe he would had been crucified for gunning for the scoring title and costing his team the win.

Durant plays the last two meanless games, shot jacks and almost loses both games and no one said anything.

but now its Kobe's turn and everyone is in an uproar.

The fact is. The same people criticizing him now is the same people who don't have a favorable opinion of him.

You can't please someone who hates you.
Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.

Exactly. More respect to him for sitting out.

Durant is fake. His BS reason about wanting to play the whole game or not at all in order to "improve his game" makes him sound like a politician. If he had just come out and said he's looking to score to claim the scoring title, then that would be fine.

Wait, are we going to get an apology from all the people saying Kobe is gunning for the scoring title?
