Having seen the rockets, at least against the Cavs the difference with harden vs without was absurd. It reminded me of some of the early Lebron Cavs teams where the entire offense ran through one guy.

Harden would have my vote right now just on the load he is carrying.

That's not how the MVP works. If he isn't top 2-3 then he has no shot and can fight for 3rd 4th place in voting.

What I think how MVP works and who should be MVP is two different things. Westbrook should be in the top 3 as long as he doesn't have nights like last night very often.

Harden should be 1. Kawhi 2nd, Westbrook 3rd, Durant 4th, LeBron 5th.

It is a little bit crazy that DD is looking like he may legit have a top10, possibly top5 MVP season tho. But we'll see.

This is true. Not sure how that hurts his argument though. In the real world that Cavs are undefeated and the reigning champs. That's literally as good as it gets for LeBron.

Well if we use PER as the basis for who MVP is right now, the top 10 candidates as of Nov 5th would be:

1 Kawhi Leonard, SA 38.85
2 James Harden, HOU 36.00
3 DeMar DeRozan, TOR 34.26
4 Kevin Durant, GS 33.67
5 Chris Paul, LAC 31.95
6 Russell Westbrook, OKC 31.10
7 Damian Lillard, POR 31.01
8 Anthony Davis, NO 30.70
9 DeMarcus Cousins, SAC 30.29
10 Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL 28.31

I'm on the Kawhi train this year, he looks like the best player in the league aswell.. (LBJ still gets the nod tho)

1. Westbrook depending what seed OKC (4th seed with a near triple double average no doubt should get him the MVP)
2. Kawhi(dude is simply a dog)
3. Kyrie(i just have a strange feeling that Kyrie could get it bc Lebron has shown that he will let Kyrie take care of the regular season, while he basically rests a bit for the playoffs)

1. Westbrook ======> OKC is Top-2 in the West. If they can stay there, Russ has a great chance to win MVP
2. LeBron =========> Averaging near triple-double. Unbeaten. Top of the East.
3. DeRozan ========> Top-2 in the East. 35+ PPG and 34.0 PER in a massive start to the season
4. Leonard ========> Loss at home to the Clips hurts
5. Harden =========> .500 record means he has little actual chance of winning the award
Jokic 31/21/22
Luka & Oscar = 5 x 27/8/8
The Brodie = All-out energy

Bucks have won 2/3 of their games, Giannis has a spot up here for a week or so. :)

I think what he's saying is that Lebron simply isn't 'the boss' anymore, not that Derozan replaced him. It would have been one of the other 4 guys on that list.

Well, I have to disagree with that argument if you have seen the 2016 Finals and how the Cavs started the season. For me, being the boss is more than posting great or improved stats, its also about being a leader for your team and carry it to W's. Cavs are the only unbeaten team for now.

DeRozan has a great start and looks great, but I'm honestly not too impressed with Regular Season numbers. We'll see in the playoffs when there is persistent defense being played.

You cant be the boss by having great first 6 games... Lebron has been consistently averaging insane numbers and winning for the Last 10 years or so, he earned it throught the years.

Well, MVP is a regular season award, and regular season stats play into it...highlighting why there needs to be a Playoff MVP (not Finals MVP where someone can get hot for a series and win it, like Danny Green almost did).
