Sac is sending Divac and the scouts now while the Knicks have already done so and got the report. Why don't you look up what Porzingis has said about Luka Doncic like on Slam? The Knicks fans here probably already know more about Doncic than the Kings fans due to Porzingis. If I were a Kings fan, then I'd be looking at Ayton #1 and Bagley at #2. Otherwise, trade down for someone like another player/future #1 pick and the Knicks pick.

I think if you took the time to read back over this exchange you would regret your tone and issue an apology to RPG. You are belittling him while totally misrepresenting what you are posting.

Has any 19-yr old put up these kind of numbers in Euro league?

He is a 19 years old playing like a star for one of the best teams in Euroleague , neither Porzingis or Saric were close to play in a Euroleague team at his age, i mean no player ever did that at 19, even last year he looked like a good Euroleague player.
He is a phenomenon.

Looking further back and wider Sabonis averaged 17.7 in Eurobasket before turning 19, 2 months older Drazen Petrovic averaged 13.4 in same championship and 17.5 in Olympic games next year. Modestas Paulauskas was Eurobasket MVP few months after turning 20 in 1965

I also wouldn't say it's aimed directly at the kings. However the kings management has been very questionable and they have no veterans signed for next season outside of shumpert. I just don't see them making the POs in the next 5 to 10 years without radical changes.

Tbh bro, that headline was blown out of proportion because of lack of context. He had no other way if answering that question, he’s in the final part of his season competing for a Euroleague title. His agent already cleared it up saying no NBA team is coming into his consideration for if he comes over or not. I’ll be very surprised if he stays.

And yesterday, after his Final Four game, he was asked if there was a Serbian player he’d like to play with. He said Bogdanović because they’re good friends and he’s a good player.

You know Sac is going to draft this guy. Not sure how that would really effect his decision though. Odds are, if you’re a high lotto pick, you’re gonna end up on a bad team. NBA money is all about experience. If he wants to maximize his earnings, you gotta get that clock started.

This thread has had a number of horrible takes (seriously, I have no idea why Americans like this "players wants X city" argument so much, it sounds downright stupid to me) but this one takes the cake so far.

Everyone who is interested in basketball in Europe saw Dončić help lead his country to the gold medal last summer. We are well aware of who he is.

I don't think Doncic cares too much about which "city" but I have a feeling he's a demanding teenager given he's played at Real MAdrid which is a successful franchise. It's not easy to go from "Winning on a continental level" to "blatant tanking or something close"(although in the best league in the world) once you've tasted mature organized basketball. NCAA players usually don't care about where they end up as long as they are drafted, they're fine. The NBA is the non plus ultra for them, regardless of franchises (well, american college players might be more interested in cities rather than franchises)

5-10 years? You do know how quickly things change in pro sports one way or the other?
In regards to veterans signed for next season, Zach Randolph, Kosta Koufas and Shumpert are here with Garret Temple.

I really think it’s just **** crazy that Phoenix might take Ayton. Doncic is a tremendous player already. He’s fast, big, a good shooter, and incredibly skilled for his age. His floor is probably like a more polished Tobias Harris. His ceiling is sky high. Arguably higher than anyone in the league except Giannis. I really think he’s the most can’t miss prospect since Anthony Davis. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him winning an MVP 4 or 5 years from now.

If he is feeling this way you cant take him in the top 10. Teams will try interview hi m and gage what he says. The kings have had issues with players coming over in past.

Doncic is easily the best player and prospect in this draft and it's not that close. What he's done in a league far more competitve than the NCAA as a teenager is unbelievable. The Suns are going to regret it big time if they take Ayton.

As far as what he said goes, he probably is trying to scare the Kings off I'd guess.

No, he said it because he was asked this question right before final 4 semifinals... What are people expecting? That he would say is is excited that he is leaving his current team right before most important games of the season with his club? While still under contract, with final 4 to play and domestic league to finnish? Even ncaa prospects say they have their minds only on current goal before last games, while everyone knows they are leaving and games they will play in are far less important.

Huh? Who was the last European player the Kings had trouble getting to the NBA?

What's with the emojis? Time to grow up.

And way to miss the point: everyone interested in basketball in Europe? There are dozens of us, dozens. My comment was literally about that.

Doncic can enjoy some relaxed strolls on the streets of Madrid because very few people actually know him, even in the very city he plays. And that's because they don't give a damn about basketball, even if they're fanatics for the club he plays for and follow religiously even the most insignificant events about its football team and players. Doncic plays ina league where the most viewed tv games seldom surpass 30,000 viewers. Most get far less than that. Let that sink in. His team is the most popular and the average live attendance per home game is ~9,000; away games, even less. And there are 6.5 million people just in the Madrid metro area. So yeah, to claim he's "already a star in Europe" is a stretch of cosmic dimensions (no pun intended) - unless we're really stretching the definition of star - in Spain alone there are hundreds of sportsmen more well known than Doncic. The "American college kid who has been living in a dorm eating pizza and chicken nuggets" does have more public recognition in whatever city/state he plays than Doncic has in Spain or basically any other European country barring Slovenia. So again, within the context of the discussion, he's pretty much anonymous. Basketball is a niche sport pretty much everywhere in Europe, the few guys who are quasi-stars at a continental scale are actually the NBA stars, European or American alike.

And even though I abhor arguments from authority, I know this because, unlike you, I'm actually in Spain.

Dončić is on 554k followers on Instagram. That's quite something for a basketball player in Europe yet to come to NBA. That's more than players like Jamal Murray or Tony Parker

He's a known name. He's not Ronaldo but people know him

Anthony Davis and Giannis are physical marvels so stop the hyperbole. It is unfair to Luka.

Yes, basketball is not as popular as soccer in Europe, we all know that. But saying that nobody knows Doncic, that's a little far-fetched. That's why I've had a look at some stats - Google Trends searches in the past 90 days, comparing terms "Luka Doncic" and "Jan Oblak". Both are Slovenian, to reduce bias. You are in Spain, so I probably don't need to explain who Oblak is, arguably the best European soccer goalkeeper.
Worldwide, Luka appeared in 2.25 times more searches. In Europe, Luka is ahead in some countries and Jan is ahead in other countries. Saying that nobody knows Luka in Europe is like saying that nobody knows a goalkeeper with a market value of 70 million eur (by transfermarkt).

Has any 19-yr old put up these kind of numbers in Euro league?

Someone in the draft thread did the comparisons so I'll copy from there

EUROLEAGUE
Rubio, 20 (season after draft): 13/8/6/3stl/.562 TS%/17.7 PER (7th on team)
Batum, 20 (draft year): 13/5/4/2/.526 TS%/12.8 PER (6th on team)
Dragic, 22 (draft year): 14/5/4/.544 TS%/13.2 PER (3rd on team)
Doncic, 19: 25/8/7/2/.61 TS%/ 22.9 PER (1st on team)

SMALLER LEAGUES
Porzingis, 20 (ACB): 20/9/2blk/1.6stl/.555 TS%/19.2 PER (2nd on team)
Jokic, 19 (Adriatic): 18/10/3ast/.569 TS%/21.2 PER (2nd on team)
Capela, 20 (French Pro A): 14/13/3blk/2ast/1.5 stl/.636 TS%/23.8 PER (1st on team)
Gobert, 21 (French Pro A): 15/10/3/.734 TS%/21 PER (1st on team)

Doncic is better than all of them at the same age.
