Yeah I say get almost everything back to normal on April 1st but I think no traveling outside the USA yet and no large gatherings yet but still maintain the social distancing and washing hands until the USA gets their "recovered cases" over 1000.

Apologize if this has already been posted. I imagine its stuff like this (not just in Florida but anywhere with slow response):

That guy just pushed himself to the front of the line to be their next mayor. Good on him for calling that **** out.
I know premature but some people in my Facebook feed were calling him to run for Governor already. I do appreciate someone that has passion and fights for everyday people, the struggle is real and is clear but most elected officials go out of their way to avoid acknowledging it.

I suppose I just expected them to hold out a little longer for show.

I am curious how Japan's numbers will be over the next few weeks considering Olympics are basically out of the picture now.

Anecdotal (which I've avoided in this thread since there's no way to verify it but whatever) so take it with however much salt you need, but I chatted with some old coworkers from my time in China, and though they're not from Hubei but Guangzhou, they are basically implying that they don't believe for one second the official numbers coming out of China. This jives with the RTHK (a Hong Kong news agency) article I posted recently showing how it's nearly impossible to even get tested in Wuhan at the moment: https://news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/component/k2/1516240-20200323.htm?spTabChangeable=0

I think its no secret that with the exception of a few privileged world travelers, elderly people (more at risk) and poor people (have to keep working) will bear the brunt of this virus' attack.

I agree with what I think you're saying.. that it feels like many of our leaders' primary concern is with minimizing their own short term economical losses before minimizing the losses of real people's lives.

I thought "they" could hold out a little longer too, but for some it seems to have even been that way from the very start.

Yeah he wasn't there yesterday either. Kind of disappointing because he's been the main reason I watch these.

Dr. Fauci has a responsibility beyond agreeing with the President. It's obvious he's has had a fallout and cannot back Trump's lifting of these regulations so early. It's for Wall Street and not for the People who support them.

Guys wake the fk up. This new decision by Trump is not about us the People.

This is going to be a super heavyweight fight between Trump and Governor Cuomo.
Do not forget that Fauci put his hands on his face in disbelief when Trump said something ridiculous during the press conference late last week, I'm sure someone pointed that out to him and with how thin skinned he is...

The other thing I'm worried about is my partner works at the hospital as a Physiotherapist and she has said they really haven't done much prep for this. They're still telling older patients to come in for non essential treatment. She works in Out Patients, mainly treating hip and knee replacements. She is still teaching GROUP classes! She has voiced her concerns to the bosses but it looks like they're trying to get as much money prior to the government shutting down the non essentials. For a hospital to be that reckless absolutely blows my mind. Putting the lives of patients and workers at risk for money is exactly what's wrong with this world.
I feel for you man. I have family members in the medical field getting exposed, it's worrisome. Also, it's immoral for a hospital group to act like this but here we are seeing this play out all over. Along the way we lost sight of what hospitals main goal should be and that is getting people healthy. It's become an afterthought in some cases...

That would literally kill 100s (more likely 1000s of people) of people.

Good read. I truly hope it doesn't happen, with this government anything is possible.

Wasn't sure at first from just reading the tweet (and don't want to touch the politics of it either) but yeah it sounds as bad in audio as the tweet reads.

Good article on just how uneven testing is.... the data (outside of NY) is mostly bad. I think people are looking at the low death numbers (which are almost certainly under counted) and getting a false sense of security

The USA is actually going to surpass the total number of (reported) cases in China in a couple days. We will be over 100K reported cases in 3-4 days, and we will be over a million cases in the USA alone within a couple weeks if more widespread testing becomes enacted before businesses are allowed to open (they may strategically limit the testing to keep this number artificially low so people go back to work regardless). It's an interesting game the government is playing right now.

It seems like China has basically stopped a ton of their testing at the moment, unless of course you're a foreigner entering the country in which case if you test positive you probably get your photograph and personal details put up on some public site somewhere.

I'm not surprised. Many people seem to value money over their own life. I don't know if they are brainwashed or what, I've known people like this. It's just misguided, it's more disturbing that he seems to think he's close circle of weirdos are somehow indicative of what most think.

That, the fact that they simply locked/welded many of their citizens shut into their homes, and the fact that they simply covered up the entire situation and did not report anything in the early going all contribute to their laughably low (false) total. Even in America I would be shocked if the total number of those already infected was not >1 million, but those who are asymptomatic and/or have mild symptoms and/or have no health care simply are not going to be tested. We've heard of more than enough with fairly serious symptoms being turned away to know that.
