Pelicans game should be fun. If Lakers win they can swap them in the standings. Tomorrow night

Weren’t you calling him a stat padder in another thread?

Now you’re saying if he’s passive, they’ll lose. Make up your mind man

lol i also like that not scoring 63 points would be considered "being passive"

I think Lebron wants a Kobe-esque special moment. Getting it in the first quarter against the bucks and then getting destroyed doesn't seem ideal. I see him getting 25-30 tomorrow and then going for like 50 on 40 shots against OKC in a win.

I've seen people throw out Luka's name as a guy who could eventually break Lebron's record, out of current players who could "possibly" do it. I don't get it. He's averaged like 65 games a year. :dontknow:

You have to be playing like 77+ games a season for the bulk of your career to even be in the conversation.

I agree. Comparing their first 4 years in the league Lebron already has a 1500 point lead.

To beat Lebron someone's gonna need to start of scoring a ton at a young age, play majority of games every season, avoid major injury, and maintain that scoring average into old age for at least 20 years.

it's not possible for anybody currently in the league (tho I guess a rookie like Banchero technically isn't yet eliminated yet). I feel like Lebrons record will stand as long as Kareems, especially If he keeps trying to play as long as is possible.

Yeah with this prevalence of load management his record won't be broken for decades almost for sure.

Small problem with your prediction: if LeBron takes 40 shots, he's getting at least 75 points. He's never ever been an inefficient, "I'll shoot till I die" type in 20 years of NBA play.

And LBJ never had 40 FGA in a game....the higher he had was 38 FGA in the 2015 playoffs...In the regular season, this is 36 FGA and it was back in 2005 vs Toronto(56 points)

Lebron will surpass 43000 probably. I hope he can get to 45000. It is totally doable:

Lakers have 29 games left this season. Let say he plays 20 of these at his current 30 pts per game. That'll take him to 40,000.

He plays another 4 seasons at a conservative 25 pts per game and let say 60 games per season. That'll be 6000 points when he's done.

Crazy thought is...if he can reach 50,000.
Well, if he plays 6 more seasons at a highly competitive condition, he possibly can.

That would take him to 39,000.

43,000 is definitely doable if he plays three more seasons after this. I have a hard time seeing him get to 45,000.

Oops yeah. I meant 39000. Four more seasons at 1500 points thereafter will take him to 45000. I got all mixed up.

Doncic is 2,652 points behind LeBron at the same age so that ship has already sailed. He could quite plausibly end up with a higher career average but he's never going to play enough games to reach LeBron's level.

That said, the shift towards higher individual scoring could put somebody - admittedly probably nobody currently in the league - on a path to beating the record. There is bound to be someone over the next decade or two who challenges Jordan's PPG record and if that happens there is a slim chance that they could also chase down LeBron's record also.

Lebron has to be the most fulfilled prospect of all time right? dude was deemed the chosen one in high school and has largely lived up to that billing while staying out of any trouble. Pretty incredible that hes going to break the all time scoring record.

Unlike with Curry, it seems likely that the Thunder game will be played not knowing if LeBron will break the record or not. That makes it a lot more interesting.

This is incredible. I remember talk of this possibly happening 5 or so years ago. I think most of us, including myself, doubted it given he was already 33 and wouldn’t expect him to keep up his scoring. The fact that hes averaging 30ppg at 38 is just stupid considering his below average 3pt and FT shooting.

If it wasn’t for that first season in LA where he missed a bunch of games, COVID, and then sitting out a lot of games the year after the title, he would have already surpassed it and 40k could have been on the table this season.

Lebron could retire in another season or two just as easily as he could play another 4-5 seasons.

at year 19-20 or late 30s age, all bets are off in terms of projecting multiple seasons ahead. Someone like Karl Malone is a good example of that. He was even more durable than Lebron, and he went from an allstar level durable player looking like he could play another 5 seasons, to injured and retired within a span of a year.

Lebron could retire in another year or two just as easily as he could play another 4 years.

Agreed.

Luke doesn't even workout. He's going to age like leftover Taco Bell.
