He is the #2 option on the Cavs. He averaged 15.7 field goals per game @ 47%, and 40% from three. He has value but if he had a few more attempts per game and shooting at those percentages he would make a huge impact.

Cavs in general are a working progress.
Evan Mobley needs an increase in his attempts. It's time to push him to be more of a first ir second option.

This is why I wouldn't prioritize bringing back Ty Jerome (or Merrill to a lesser extent). You can improve your rotations defensively, find more shots for Mobley/Hunter, and save money without trading Garland.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Murray. Olynyk and Murphy for Garland, Allen and Okoro

Cavs:
Mobley/Olynyk
Hunter/Wade
Murphy/Strus
Mitchell/Jerome/Strus
Murray/Jerome

Pelicans:
Allen/Missi
Zion
Jones/Okoro
McCollum/Hawkins
Garland/Alvarado
#7 pick

No interest in eating Murray's contract. Too much bad salary for an over-the-apron team to take back. Send that to Milwaukee with their draft capital if you don't want to wait for him to heal up and find out if he's still an NBA player afterwards.

Would likely do Murphy/Herb for Garland/Okoro. Might do Allen/Okoro for Herb/Olynyk. Could consider Murphy/Olynyk for Garland but might ask for more comp.

Garland for Zion is an interesting thought exercise, on-court.

You know what, I forgot that Murray tore his achilles. For some reason I was remembering it as an ACL tear, which players usually can come back from. Yeah, it's too risky for the Cavs to do a trade involving him at this point.
Go Knicks!
