He now has more scoring titles in his 5 years than Kobe does in 16 years. (yes kobe is better homers)

Jordan didn't get his third scoring title until he was 25 (Durant is 23), but also his 5th season.

A player in his 16TH SEASON was LESS than ONE PPG away from winning the scoring title...

With a major injury, a concussion, a broken nose, with a brand new coach, a brand new system, and having two close teammates traded away(one being the current 6th man of the year)... Kobe just keeps adding to his resume, in his 16th season!

16th season! Less than a PPG, while still averaging 5 rebound and 5 assists!

LEGEND!

"Just now I asked him, 'How old would you have been for you to want to play in this game?' and he said he wouldn't have," Brown said. "He said he was (27) and playing against Dallas and he had 62 (points) and Dallas had 61 after three quarters and he said Phil (Jackson) asked him if he wanted to come back in and he told Phil, 'No.' So, I guess contrary to what everybody probably, possibly thinks about him in that (capacity), that's not what he's all about even though he could go out and get 40 tonight. ... He's capable of getting 40 any given night."

Well, as he's proven multiple times this year, he's also capable of going 3 for 20.

I think maybe he's chicken.

I hate to point this out, because all the ridiculous Durant-Jordan juxtaposition is well... ridiculous, but this is a pretty impressive stat.

Durant has the highest TS% (61%) of any scoring champion since Jordan's '88-'89 season (61.4), as well as the highest fg% of a scoring champ since Shaq in 2000.

We all know Durant is an efficiency freak, but I think a lot of people overlook just how efficient Jordan was as well.

And I'm still kind of disappointed Kobe didn't play. Would've been entertaining to watch (just wish it had've been against a decent team instead of the Kings because they're just not very entertaining in general).

To be honest I can understand Kobe. From a PR perspective it was a win-win. If Durant didn't play those last two and he sits this game, everybody's resting. If Durant didn't play and Kobe played and took the scoring title, for a couple days people would gripe then be back to all hail Kobe. Since Durant played and upped the ante, Kobe stood to lose more than he could've gained, especially since Brown had already announced he was sitting Pau and Bynum (Brown kind of put Kobe in a tight spot imo). If Kobe played and DIDN'T score 38+ with the rest of the starters sitting, imagine the media backlash from that. Instead he played it safe, sat, conceded, and comes out looking like the good guy.

So if anything, boo Mike Brown.

And even if you agree with Kobe sitting, boo Mike Brown anyway.

I wonder what the people who were so sure Kobe was going to play tonight have to say about him NOT PLAYING Tonight.

He's also one of five people (him included) to score 30ppg on 60TS% (in 09-10). The others being Jordan, Kareem, Dantley and K. Malone. Durant being the youngest at 21.

The list expands to only 11 players if you lower the reqs to 29ppg and 59TS%(adding some fine gentlemen like Shaq, LeBron and Bird).

He's always been super efficient.

Maybe now some of the haters will stop with the argument that Kobe really cares about personal accolades.
