What would be the purpose of being on the roof anyways, he could be anywhere, sitting in a hotel room watching on tv.

He was looking away and walking away from that scene and that sound.
"What would be the purpose of being on the roof anyways" That would be my first question too.

Rooftop is good for signal and coordination.

Coordinate what? "Ok light the fuse now!!!"
Do you know how IED's are detonated?

Uhhhh, do you? The complex ones are detonated via cell phone or radio. Sometimes there is a spotter/distraction to signal when to detonate. Not sure what kind of IED encounters you've had.

This is definitely scary. I was really young when 9/11 happened and I didn't much of what is going on. I didn't even realize how scared some people were back then. Now that I am older, it is kind of scary, and it seems like 9/11.

9/11 was like this times a thousand. Literally (over 3,000 dead) and metaphorically. I mean, the largest buildings in New York City completely collapsed with people **** inside them. That was a huuuuuuuge deal. This is really sad but is more on the scale of a shooting spree or something like that.

May God bless the killed, the injured, their loved ones, first responders, volunteers, and Bostonians at large, and may justice be swift.

My prayers to all those touched by this horrific tragedy.

Gee, sorry you weren't impressed. Tragedy is not a competitive sport.

No death penalty here, either. Not sure if federal charges can circumvent that or not.

I'm just saying 9/11 was a completely different scene than what we saw today and it really shouldn't be compared.

Don't really know how someone could be so evil to pull something like this. Just saddens me. Hope the people affected can get through this and may the deceased rest in peace. The terrorist better be found and justice be served.

And I'm a little irked at how big of a deal this is to people when it happnens in the U.S. whereas it literally happens every single day in other parts of the world and we turn a blind eye, but this isn't really the time or place to have that discussion.

A few hours ago someone planted (at least) 7 bombs in my town and your playing the "Scoreboard!" card with the effing bodycount.

That is not okay.

If you're not going to offer any form positivity in this thread which is something we desperately need now, don't post.

Its a highly emotional time, people don't need to be baited into an argument because people get on their high horse in a time of tragedy.

The death penalty is too soft. Once they've been prosecuted, torture them for the rest of their lives and set an example for anyone who even thinks about going into a school with a gun or blowing up a building. An exception to "cruel and unusual punishment" should be made for these pieces of !!!!.

Well, he's right. I understand this may hit closer to home for you since it happened in your own town but you should understand that he's not trying to win anything. You can't compare this to 9/11. Bodycount absolutely plays a huge part. Otherwise why not start a thread for every innocent person that is murdered in the US everyday?

No one is trying to say this wasn't tragic and a horrible, cowardly act. A younger person asked about this compared to the feeling of 9/11, and they are nothing alike.

its nothing like 9/11, but it is the first major attack at a US sporting event since the Atlanta Olympics

sporting events are a place where large groups of people gather in one relatively small area, and that alone makes it a target. You always hear about the super bowl and such being on high alert, and an event like this of course brings that home.

Its a changing world, and in places like Israel this is sadly experienced on an almost daily basis.

and here you are talking about the celtics game being cancelled. in all honesty, i don't even care what you said about the cancellation, but to call out someone else out for something that really wasn't insensitive.

God I hope they find whoever did this fast and either Massachusetts has a death penalty or he gets shipped to Guantanamo bay and gets some torture.

Please if u don't agree with this post don't argue. Should not turn into a political debate and I'm mainly speaking out of anger.

That's f ucked. Guantanamo should be shut down.

Agreed. Terrorists (anyone who seeks to cause harm to a group of people) would think twice if that were allowed to happen. Don't even kill them, just torture them until they die of age.

Uhh yeah, or they do it anonymously, like this.

Not to make this about the Celtics-Pacers game, but can mods stop locking perfectly legitimate discussions? I'm sorry, but on an NBA board the unprecedented cancellation of a game absolutely needs its own thread.
