Devin Booker will win some games for the Suns but will not be enough to make the playoffs. Mavericks may have done good acquisitions but Nowitzki and Deron are 1yr older and the West is stronger as always and still better than the East.
Thunder will not be that bad (Kanter and Adams taking a step forward) but that good to contend (very difficult to win a game without Westbrook) i think it's fair to say they are as good as Jazz, Rockets or Blazers.
It was very very hard to left out a solid team like the Grizzlies (i had to the same in the East with the Hornets), i was thinking about give the 8th seed to the Grizzlies and Wolves missing the playoffs, but... players like Towns are so talented it's hard to imagine they can't make it, plus Thibodeau really makes sense for them.

Guys, thanks for all the participation. We do appreciate you take the time to do this survey, and some of the folks went back and forth multiple times adjusting their votings - stellar effort.

As the season tips off, we draw the curtain on the predictions as well. We will unsticky them very soon. No worries, at the end of the season we will bump this up and update all the results. (probably one extra bump around the mid-season see how we are doing as a whole).

So long for now. Good luck to everyone!

generally, it looks like Houston is the biggest 'out-performer

meanwhile, the Blazers are busy crashing & burning

Looks like I overrated the Grizzlies, Blazers and Mavericks. Not overwhelmingly so though. Highly underrated the Rockets but I suspect many people did. Nuggets should have been a bit higher as well. I did alright though.

I've seen Rockets on #13, you not doing too bad.

The biggest satisfaction for all posters here is, we put Utah on 4th pre-season. They started the season slow, dealing with all the injuries, but they came through, and climbed back to 4th eventually. Now they are in a slightly favorable match-up vs the Clippers, very happy for them to prove it's not all Utah hype, they are for real.

If Gallo+Chandler play near 100-120 games (critical role last year for injuries), with the improvement of young players, denver will surprise

1 Golden State (=)
2 San Antonio (=)
3 LA Clippers (+1)
4 Utah (+1)
5 Houston (-2)
6 OKC (=)
7 Denver (+2)
8 Portland (=)

9 Memphis (-2)
10 Minny (+3)
11 NOLA (-1)
12 Dallas (-1)
13 Sacto (-1)
14 Lakers (=)
15 Suns (=)

7 of 8 PO teams picked correctly (best 9 teams correctly).

6 teams picked position correctly
5 teams with position shifted by 1
3 teams with position shifted by 2
1 team with position shifted by 3 (Minnesota)

Not bad.
