I’m surprised more people don’t have Giles. Getting to practice for a whole year with your team and focus only on your game and body versus going to school is a huge advantage.

When people say it’s not fair they have a valid point.

The Kings' front court is rather crowded.

Crowded yes but not crowded with top players.

who are your top five rookies this year?

I think it will be:

Doncic
Jackson
Giles
Sexton
And Shai

Not in any order yet. I just think those will be the top five this year..

It's hard for me to buy stock in Kevin Knox because I saw little to no shotcreating from him at Kentucky.

Transition = great
Catch and shoot = really good
Handling the ball and generating his own offense = little to none
Playing defense = little to none

I think Allonzo Trier is the man to get excited about in New York but he's only on a 2-way contract.

You see that boy play SL? Kid developed. Trier? His potential is a bench player.

A) Might that not have more to do with his role/usage rather than his abilities? Booker showed little shot-creating at Kentucky and now Phoenix is running their offense through him.

B) His trainer talked about the focus they put on his ballhandling after the college season ended and it was something that Fiz commented on being impressed by in the workout.

During the SL Knox showed a lot more with the ball in his hands than many of us expected and he even showed potential to run PnRs with a couple really impressive passes to Robinson.

What do you mean by 'best' here? Sexton will probably put up nice numbers but I'd bet on him being ludicrously inefficient, and Jackson Jr and Shai might look really good but probably won't put up ROY-type #s because they won't by playing starter's minutes (both teams trying to compete for a playoff spot).

Well that’s kind of it isn’t it.. It’s hard to see too far in the future but I think these five will at least show well in their rookie seasons. Now I think we were a bit spoiled by last years crop. I don’t expect any of these guys to approach Donovan Mitchell type numbers but I think they’ll show enough flashes to be considered among the best of this year’s group.

On the other hand, I expect some highly regarded rookies such as Ayton and Young and Knox to really struggle their first year..

Its Kentucky NOONE gets to do what they are capable of unless you are a guard.

Not necessarily a good thing though. In my opinion it's better to begin in the NBA in a defined role and expand your game along the line.

He's doing that tho.

In SL he averaged like 4 BPG and close to 12 RPG. If he wants to start early in expanding his Offensive game, there's nothing really wrong with that.

It's going to be awhile before he even comes close to consistent out there on the Perimeter. So it's good if he starts early in learning. :D

1. Luka Doncic is the only rookie in the top 100 for this season. Did we get that right?

Tim MacMahon, ESPN: The word out of Dallas is that Doncic has often been the best player on the court in pickup games at the Mavs' facility despite not being in great shape by NBA standards. And before you make a crack about the Mavs' talent or lack thereof, these games have included local products like LaMarcus Aldridge. Doncic, a special passer, is the most accomplished Euro teen ever and has a huge advantage over other rookies because he arrives in the NBA as a seasoned pro.

I'm pretty high on Doncic but this really doesn't mean anything. Two years ago Sergio Rodriguez was easily the best player at the Sixers' scrimmages and he was sort of an embarrassment when the season rolled around. We all know Doncic is terrific against a certain level of competition and intensity, the only real question is how he'll fare when there are organized and disciplined NBA defenses playing against him and gameplanning against his strengths. Going to take NBA games for us to know anything about that.

Young, Ayton, Doncic are the 3 candidates imo. Depends on what the voters value most. Stats or wins
