my guess is they probably weren't clear to him that a torn Achilles was a very real possibility if he played

if i recall correctly, Kerr said he was told by the doctors that there was no worry about a potential achilles injury, only worry was re injuring his calf.
If thats the case, then there is a problem

Windhorst reported before the game that he was told that Achilles was fine and the worst that could happen was the calf could strained again as well.

Dumbest and most heartless medical staff in the NBA. Hopefully KD can sue and win, those doctors were clueless.

Durant was never the Warriors best player, but he was still a key component of a team that won two titles and has an argument for being the best NBA team ever assembled. I don't think this injury really changes the narrative for me.

That why I'm saying if there can be legal ramifications for such negligence on the Warriors part. Can Durant sue them if he doesn't get the Max?
Name a team that isnt offering him the max now that was going to 4 hours ago

If he has an injury that will require a year to recover, I bet there are some teams that will at least reduce the length of their offer. Like from 4 years down to 2...

It's true, it was disgusting. I bet they only clapped towards the end because Lowry and Ibaka told them to shut up.

Dominique Wilkins Is the only guy that I can think of that returned to his former self after the surgery, and he was 32.

Everyone else has not been the same after that injury. Rudy Gay had a pretty decent year in his first season back from an Achilles year this year, but he’s clearly not the athlete he was before.

Warriors probably covered the achilles tear as a calf tear, because if it was an achillies they wouldn't have been allowed to keep trying to bring him back in the series and keep spewing " he is going to be available soon" bs.

...if he has a full tear he's not opting out. This effects KD Kyrie and perhaps Butler depending on who you ask. Now there's actually a plausible scenario where Irving and KD stay in Boston and GSW for another year.

I don't think their respective free agencies are related at this point. Kyrie gone it looks like...likely to Brooklyn. KD has to opt in at this point...or the Warriors need to take care of him and give him an extension as insurance.

I thought they he would on a 20min rectriction and he was already at 12 rather early in the 2nd quarter (?). In the first part of the 1st quarter, he was used off-ball and he left the quarter early. I thought that this would be how he would be used : 5-6min a quarter, off-ball. But then he was brought back in the 1st and started handling the ball more and I didn't understand what was going on.

It makes no sense to me that a guy having been gone for a month would play so much and be involved so much. His leg was obviously not ready for that type of effort.

I have a lot of respect for him. He didn't have to play and he absolutely shouldn't have. But if the Warriors win this in 7 (and I'm starting to have a feeling they will), it'll be partly because of him. I don't think Golden State wins tonight without the minutes he gave them. 11 points on 5 shots and GS was +6 in the time he played.

No it was a calf strain, most likely grade 3
They rushed him or he rushed himself)( we don't know the full story).
At that point, parts of you body has to compensate for the other part and this is the likely outcome. It was between this and a glute strain... Sadly he got the worst end of the stick

Honest question...

Should Bob Myers be reprimanded for this?

Well, did the doctors clear him? I mean it has to be on them ultimately. The guy had a calf injury and clearly playing on it lead to this which is pretty bad, but you never know with these things.

No, we do know.

Several people who saw Kevin practice said he had no business being on an NBA court -- Jalen Rose included, who expressed as much on national television. When the Warriors officially ruled it a calf injury, many had doubted the legitimacy of the report due to the fact KD unequivocally grabbed his lower Achilles against Houston; the same exact spot he grabbed today. Couple tonight's injury that with the fact Kerr, "had no idea", supposedly, of Kevin's progression through the injury, or a SPECIFIC timetable for his return, and it looks like an intentional misinformation campaign by the Warriors. It just smells like Kevin was "cleared" after great "convincing" to get him on that court for the sake of another ring.

Either KD was lead astray by the medical staff, or he was in on the misinformation campaign. I sincerely hope the Warriors didn't put KD's career on the line for a ring. To me, this entire ordeal smells fishy.

Honestly that's the first thing that ran through my mind when I watched his presser...KD shouldn’t have ever been cleared to play when all this time they were holding him out because they feared a worse outcome. Franchise altering blunder.

The GSW front office is responsible for this, when they wouldnt tell us what exactly his injury was and a SPECIFIC time frame. He did this as gamesmanship so the other opponent wouldnt know if Durant is playing but this backfired. Because this put pressure on Durant to come back because the fans wanted him to, the players wanted him too, and the media wanted him too because no one knew exactly what was wrong with him and why he was out this long. As a result, he came back not ready and tore something up. So sad. Myers should be fired for this.

LOL, obviously coming from a Knick fan who was ready for KD to join. Not all front offices are as incompetent as yours, so no need to project. Fake tears...*******
