Michael Jordan LITERALLY FACED THE GREATEST DEFENDERS EVER. Those guys LITERALLY GUARDED him exclusively and he still obliterated them.

Moncrief, Rodman, Dumars, Payton, Cooper, DJ, Starks, etc... many to mention.

Those are better man defenders than most of the best defenders today.

If LeBron looked like he was having trouble against the best defenders today and if you think that they really guarded LeBron well, well, that is on LeBron. He aint a better isolation or one on one player than Jordan, that's why his defenders look better in guarding him than MJ's defenders guarding MJ.

Sit down delusional LeBron stans.

Well...and this connects to the Warriors vs Bulls threads....

Put Klay Thompson, Iggy, or Draymond Green instead of Byron Russel. Same outcome? I don't think so. I think Jordan feasted a bit at a time without opposing athletic all defensive types. He says that Joe Dumars and Mitch Richmond were two of his toughest defenders. Both these guys were strong...but 6'3". Now imagine those guys are 6'6" or 6'7" and on all defensive teams...and there are three of them on the team you are facing :)

Sorry...this is why I don't see Jordan's team success as GOAT team performances. After losing to Celtics and Detroit for several years, he beat some average finals teams with smallish defenders. He doesn't push off Iggy, Green or Klay to get a top of the key wide open jumper to win games...sorry.

This.

Say what you want about Lebron, but Jordans initial thoughts after seeing Lebron win was having to throw out this wreck of a series to boost his legacy. Pathetic.

90s era players would cry after the Warriors hit their 15 3 pointer in a row, in 1 quarter

Like I really don't get it. These videos just make MJ look better.

What's crazy is there are videos of 40 year old MJ, strippled of all his athleticism, still having random 30-40 point outbursts against modern defenders. At 39, he had back to back games of 45 and 51.

We're in a world where Bradley Beal is averaging 30ppg on 57% TS. MJ is bigger and faster than Beal, and the best midrange shooter ever. We really think MJ isn't eating up these modern defenses?

Saying that Jordan would be still amazing player in today's league is a one thing, and saying that he would average 50 ppg or that 1996 Bulls would sweep 2018 Warriors or that modern superstars would be crushed by 90's defenses (and DOZENS of this type of crap) is a another thing.

And players today would cry playing in that era getting pushed around. If Steph had a hard time handling physicality in the Finals vs Cavs, imagine what would've happened in hand checking era

They involved him in every pick & roll and went at him 1 on 1, defensively he was grabbed on screens and pushed after screens. They played him physical, he was gassed at the last minutes of every game.
Do you actually watch the games?

There was no hand-checking era. It was banned in 1979.

I’m sure Lebron would just love to get “pushed around” by Craig Ehlo and John Starks. LOL

You thought that was physical? Oh boy you're in for a reality check watching the 90's then. It's too bad you missed that era.

Might want to go check the footage lol.

Ehlo and Starks weren't the primary defenders on MJ but I'm sure you knew that :D

Only way to settle it is to bring back the hand checking rules and see which teams are good.

Handchecking was never legal in the ‘90s. Here’s a complete breakdown if you’ve got the time and patience.

Lebron is averaging an easy 40 in the ‘90s, and that’s being generous.

Thanks for the comedic relief today. I know you're trolling but that's still hilarious that you think he would average 40. If he has only put up 30 PPG twice in his career now with this pace, in what world would he average 40 back then?

Dude, Jordan was untouchable in 90's. You couldn't even breathe on him. Watch some full games not a hihlights, he was getting a tons of bulls*hit calls when he was barely touched.

So basically exactly what happens with the stars today is what you're saying?

MJ and LeBron both average 8 FTA per game for their careers for reference.

The 2 seasons that Lebron averaged 30, the NBA was playing at a slower pace than any year in the 90s except ‘97 and ‘98.

The year MJ had his career high in PPG (‘87) the NBA was playing at a faster pace than it is now.

So yes, Lebron averaging 40 in MJ’s era is pretty much a guarantee.

Highly doubtful. By that logic though, I'd say MJ would average 40+ in today's era as well considering Derozan put up 27, 21 yr old Luka averages 30, and Kobe (similar but worse MJ) averaged a career best 35 PPG.

Damn that's crazy LeBron has only scored 30 PPG twice in his career? You would think if guys like Luka could average 30 right now that at least LeBron could...

So the best scorer of all time I'd say could do better than Kobe's best of 35 PPG.

Yes of course. LBJ, Harden or Durant are also getting a supestar calls, but the difference is that we're not saying these guys are playing in a super physical era.
