I like this for the Kings. Sabonis is a great all-around player and the fact that the Kings keep their draft capital intact is great (although they tend to screw up with their picks)

Pretty much. But it’s the Kings so everyone is ripping them apart of course

I like it for the Kings. Haliburton was super overrated imo. Not really sure I get this for the Pacers, but w/e.

I mean you could same the same thing if cavs traded garland for sabonis.

Hehehe, love it!

Sacramento prevented the Mavs from fully becoming the Sacramento of Texas by drafting Marvin Bagley over Luka Doncic. They're reminding all of us right now that they won't be out Sacramentoed

I don't think it's so much the talent equality that people are giving this deal **** for, it's because it's once again an example of the Kings making a trade which implies they're ready to be competitive now which couldn't really be further from the truth.

That aside they got the best player in the deal and reportedly are not done dealing. And again by reading the comments in the thread it looks more as if people believe Haliburton has Lebron-esque potential (I like him but I don't see him as being that special as people here seem to believe) or something and that Sacramento messed up by getting a 25yo 2 time all-star.

I am going to wait to see what their next move is before making a conclusion but I like this for the Kings either way. If anything the Pacers got Haliburton who is a great player for their rebuild and the Kings got the best player in the deal so both win in my eyes at least

Well. Didn't see that one coming.

Both the Kings and Dick Cheney have stuff blowing up in someone's face in common. The only difference is the Kings are usually on the receiving end and Cheney is not.

WTF Sacramento?

Young studs like Haliburton don't just get moved like this... this is going to look so bad in a couple seasons, I feel bad for Kings fans... Haliburton falls in their lap, but then they trade him for Sabonis...

WTF SACRAMENTO!!!

People confused about this should check Pacer fans response vs. Kings fans response. Or maybe stop exposing the fact so blatantly that you don’t watch these teams and don’t know these players.

This is a slam dunk for the Pacers. We’re going into total rebuild, I mean I like Sabonis but he’s not a superstar, he has limitations and you can’t build around him like that.

Forget Turner and Brogdon, the core is now Halliburton, Chris Duarte, and Isaiah Jackson. Plus a potential top 7 pick, plus the Cavs pick, plus whatever else we can get from trading Turner and Brogdon later. This is exactly what this team needed to do.

SelfishPlayer wrote:I love that this trade happened. It proves that Haliburton was never an "off the table" player in Ben Simmons trade talks. Haliburton benefits from playing on a bad team and he is an early example of the kinds of players that will be flooding the NBA in the coming seasons. He exposed himself against the Sixers with his last second failed shot attempt.

The follow up moves for the Kings are going to be what's interesting. I don't think McNair would've made this trade unless there was at least one other big trade coming as a follow up. Holmes is either on the move or going to the bench, which means we're probably bringing in someone like Grant or Tobias Harris. Either way, hopefully we don't overpay for them. Hate trading Haliburton, but being able to get Sabonis for him was basically getting maximizing his current value. Would hate to offset that by giving up too much for someone who is only going to be a third option on an ugly contract, which Grant most likely will be once he signs an extension.

Also hope the Kings don't do the same thing the Pacers did with Sabonis. He needs to be moved to full-time center and be given more control (and shots) in the offense. One thing I hated seeing with Sabonis the last few years is how easily he'd get shut out of the offense. Part of that is him not being aggressive enough, but I think it was mostly the way the Pacers were using him on a game-by-game basis.

Los Manos wrote:Sabonis is a nice get and clearly the best player in the trade. But to do so you move the one player who wants to be in Sac who is still on his rookie contract, while not moving the disgruntled and overpaid Fox and Bagley in the process is just a head scratcher. Awful asset management.

Yup, that's the issue.

I look at this trade in and of itself and it seems pretty reasonable and may work out for both teams...but man, you have all these mistakes on your roster and you're bringing in a "win now" star to play with them?

I know King fans feel like we knock their team no matter what they do, and this isn't a horrible move...but it is discouraging. It feels like they think "we just need an all-star and we'll be on our way to the promised land", and that's just not how I see them.

I got a boatload of decent Haliburton rookie cards. Hoping this ups his stock!

To be fair, this is the same team that drafted Bagley because he could jump fast twice in a row. So.... :dontknow:

They better be moving Harrison Barnes and MBIII as well then, cause this truly made 0 sense to me.
