No the reason I said there are a decent number of boot lickers in this thread - is because there have been a whole bunch of people trying to rationalize following all laws no matter what - and insisting on it like a fundamentalist. that was the reason.

I don't hate her, but she did feel like protesting the national anthem was correct, and that is just bound to piss off a lot of people. You can believe that hate is unjustified, but patriotism is one of the most volatile substances in society, and messing with it in any way angers a lot of people. Personally I think those people are going off the deep end a bit, but I get the concept behind it.

Honestly, I had a much bigger issue with the soccer players who kneeled for the anthem during the Olympics. At least Griner was just protesting it in a club league. But the soccer players chose to represent our country, yet also felt like they had to protest it as well. At that point, the real protest would be to not to represent our country.

The same people who had a problem with her protesting also have no problem with traitors storming the capital or republicans fist pumping after denying vets health care. Kindly get that nonsense out of here. And those people are not patriots.

I respectfully disagree (I tend to agree with most of your posts here). The average WNBA salary is 120k, compare that with the average G-league salary is 35k, the ladies make more than enough for 4 months worth of work. Considering Brittney Griner is the one of the better players in the WNBA, her salary is probably near 150k-200k, which again, is more than enough.

If players want to make more via playing overseas/endorsement deals/work a part-time job, that is completely up to them. Quite frankly, they don't have to.

There is no dialogue with people who have made up their mind that they have no empathy and align with anything that motivates them politically. I try to throw all of my personal thoughts out when looking at these sort of situations because it's the human thing to do. My personal politics don't matter.

This will be my only post in the thread so I'm not going to bother responding but the world is going backwards fast, especially in the US. Griner **** up by having hash oil on her but it was clearly an amount for personal use and she shouldn't be serving over a month for it. It's stupid to travel to Russia during this time, yes, but she had been on a team there since 2014 and obviously thought it would blow over. It wasn't some random visit. She doesn't deserve to be a martyr or hero because she did something stupid, but she damn sure doesn't deserve to be rotting away in a Russian prison for 10 years over **** vape oil.
