I wonder if it's like the policy some universites have where a teacher can't have a relationship with one of their students. If they do, it's normally the teach who gets in trouble and not so much the student (even though they were both consensualy involved). Without knowing exactly what happened (and exactly who was involved), and what the C's actual policy is, it's hard to know what to think).
