You will be...disappointed. I was Pro-Rui as a Wiz fan and wish him the best. But his two limitations will forever limit his ceiling, and his consistency.
1)
BBIQ: The eye test and the Box score show this. Offensively, he can have spurts where is an absolute bucket. Overpowers smaller players and stretches bigs. His movement, mechanics, strength, size/length are VERY reminiscent of Kawhi... Just smooth.
But thats where it ends. He shows zero vision as a passer and poor spatial awareness. Teammates will constantly be pushing/guiding him as to where to be...infuriating. He doesnt draw fouls and constantly gives up open threes for mid-range jumpers.
Last year, the guy shot 45% from 3, but only had a TS of 58%... That shows how narrow his margin is for being efficient.
Defensively, he can be an absolute menace guarding his man. He wont block shots or garner steals, but he also doesnt foul. Unfortunately, he is a horrid team defender that is always in the wrong place or just a step slow.
2)
Work ethic/Grind: Rui appears to be a "Solid" worker, but for a guy with his limitations he really needs to be a work horse to make up for it. He just seems disengaged at times and lets nagging injuries slow him down.
Go look at his last ~10 games and it gives you a pretty good idea of what you get. A couple of 25+ point games on really good efficiency, a few games where he is useless and gives you ~10 points on poor efficiency and nothing else. And then a few in between. The problem is the "In between" games look good at first (I.E. 15 points on 8-10 shots), but then you look and realize he gave you 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, and 0 blocks while playing 25+ minutes.
For a guy built like an absolute NBA Prototype Foward (Lebron, Kawhi, PG13, Pippen - 6'8, 230 lbs, 7'3 wingspan)... he can be completely invisible...
