It's not my fault that those people are wrong.
Look I get it. Embiid had an awesome season and was a worthy MVP candidate. I also understand how being an Embiid guy would be tough because like James Harden a few years ago, he's over-hated because of his style of play, which has nothing to do with how good he actually he is.
With that said, everyone here knows that this was a narrative driven MVP. If this wasn't going to be Jokic's 3rd in a row, he would have won it. He won every advanced metric, he had better numbers across the board except scoring, he was more durable, his team was better with him and worse without him, etc. The case for Jokic having the best regular season is pretty air tight. It feels a little cheap but that happens every once in a while, so be it. The best player with the best season not being on 1st Team at all? Disgusting.
Ignoring the MVP thing, a lot of people believe Nikola Jokic is the best player in the NBA, and reasonably so. That simply isn't the case with Embiid. Jokic has been more resilient, durable and successful in the postseason on top of having better regular seasons. People surely believe Joel deserved to be MVP this season and that's fine. Those same people do not believe he is the best player in the NBA. If you put up a poll of who would you want on your team for one game, one series, one postseason, etc. Embiid isn't finishing top 3 in votes this year or in either of the past two. Jokic would, and that's the difference.
The fundamental flaw with your argument is that you keep conflating your opinion with fact.
Despite what the RealGM echo chamber would have you believe, not everyone feels the same about Jokic as you do. Not everyone feels the same about Embiid as you do.
Many feel each player is exactly where he belongs on the All-NBA team including, obviously, those who vote on such things.
First team All-NBA and MVP reflects the fact that many believe that Embiid is the best center in the game and justifiably so.
For you to disparage their opinion just because it doesn't jibe with your own seem a bit haughty on your part.
As the saying goes:
"If you can't intelligently argue for both sides of an issue, you don't understand the issue well enough to argue for either."
I'm not conflating anything. I understand these things are my opinions. But there are educated opinions and uneducated opinions. Opinions that are backed by more evidence than others and opinions by others who react more emotionally than logically. Seems like your fundamental flaw is not understanding that. Calling this place an echo chamber kind of proves your quote applies more to you than it does me. I could certainly make some arguments for Embiid over Jokic but I'm not going to do it because I don't believe it's true. I imagine deep down, you know that too, which is why you haven't challenged any of my points.
Sorry, unlike you I have no horse in this race so there's nothing to shade my view.
I just thought it disrespectful to denigrate legitimate opposing views in such an arrogant and dismissive fashion.
As I pointed out before, the actual All-NBA (and MVP) votes directly contravene your position. So unless you're one of those
"everyone else is wrong and I'm the only one who sees the truth" types then you can accept there is validity to taking a position opposite yours.
And with regard to the echo chamber, if you really believe this isn't one of the spaces where Jokic is venerated appreciably more than anywhere else, you should probably get out a little more.
Lastly, speaking of emotional reactions, I sense your tone is getting a bit testy and that's certainly not what I'm here for so I'll leave you to it.
