So you think that there is something so obvious that the talking point has been beaten to death on message boards and Twitter. But multiple NBA HCs and players are too dumb to realize to try it out in the playoffs where their jobs (at least for the HCs) are on the line?

Hell why wait for the playoffs, why isnt this the go to gameplan for every team when they face the Nuggets?

The one postseason he doesn’t play a HOF level guard(the privilege Embiid has his whole career) he is in the Finals. There is some truth to this after being eliminated by Paul, Lillard and Curry then suddenly going against Conley, Cameron Payne and Russell.

Ant can run the PnR? Booker isn’t a future HOF guard that can’t run the PnR? LeBron can’t run the PnR?

Again people need to realize defending the PnR isn’t all on the big. The level of perimeter defenders can play a big part. And when you look at the level of perimeter defenders he has now compared to previous seasons, it makes a lot more sense on why the PnR wasn’t so easy at exploiting the defense.

None of the guys you mentioned actually put Jokic in pick & rolls to the same extent that the Warriors did last year. The key to beating the Nuggets is to do that to him. In addition to him having to guard against guards it also forces him to use extra energy on defense and tires him out in 4th quarters.

Yeah, lets just ignore Edwards, Booker and freaking LBJ. Because those players dont know what a PnR is... The truth is that Jokic was playing in the playoffs next to such defensive stalwarts such as Campazzo, Barton, Rivers and Morris so he had a snowballs chance in hell to defend anything. Im not saying that Jokic is some defensive god but he is much better than people give him credit. Big centers suck at defending in space and Jokic is not much different, but give him some help and he will surprise you at how good of a positional defender he is. His only true weakness is rim protection.

Edwards & Bookers coaches didn’t actually scheme to have Jokic attacked relentlessly like the Warriors did against him in the playoffs last year either. It doesn’t matter how good of defenders you have around you if the other team can exploit the bad one over and over.

You should take a look at Embiid getting cooked for almost 100% FG by Tatum, dude is so overrated defensively and is even worse than Jokic in P & R situations. He also got cooked by that Midget trae young. Warriors would score 120-140 per game cooking Embiid in the playoffs, this is a fact but that will never happen cause that fraud cant ever get past the ECF. He is a liability on both ends when it matters  .

Nuggets roster is completely different from last season where they were missing their 2nd and 3rd best player. Warriors this season would get swept.

Keep coping and ducking when I reply to you.

Joel Embiid guarding Jayson Tatum:

24 points
8/10 FG
4/4 3PT
4/4 FT

All time great traffic cone defense. Hunted relentlessly via P & R while playing like a G leaguer on offense. :violin:

And I think we saw why teams aren't spamming this obvious strategy last night: it worked for a half, but in the 2nd LeBron and AD were gassed and couldn't do anything offensively, which is why the Nuggets were able to come back and ultimately win the game

Yes because it’s not effective this year. Denver doesn’t have Barton, Morris, Hyland, Forbes, and Rivers as their perimeter defenders this year.

It’s a little different when you have KCP and Bruce Brown out there getting big minutes. Guys with size, athleticism and the IQ of knowing how to fight through screens and when to help off of their man. With perimeter players that know how to play defense, that allows Jokic to play more drop coverage (because he knows his perimeter player will fight through the screen or will receive help). Instead of getting forced out on an island over and over again.

Also no team (even including GS this year) is matching the 3pt shooting that GS had in that series last year. Klay, Poole, and Wiggins all shot above 45% from 3 in that series.

Again these coaches are not so dumb that they can’t think of trying to spam the PnR against Denver. This isn’t some underground thing that many people haven’t talked about. Everyone has talked to death how easy it is to exploit Jokic in the playoffs. It’s crazy that 3 coaches have yet to try it. It’s even crazier that all these great players that Jokic faced (Booker, KD, LeBron) didn’t go to the coach and say, “let’s spam the PnR, Jokic can’t defend it.”

It’s almost as if better perimeter defenders and not having to defend 5 guys in the rotation shooting 40+%, makes it not as simple of a thing to exploit, as many people thought.
