It matters a bit, bro.

1. Centers are getting bigger and stronger again in response to Jokic and Wemby.
AS is legitimately undersized to guard these types of oversized centers from operating in the post or at the rim.



2. Evan Mobley, IIUC, plays most of his minutes at PF next to an All Star caliber Center.
That may be the direction Washington needs to go to see Sarr reach his full potential.

Wizards should be thrilled with Alex Sarr, and also the rest of their young core. Adding to that the fact that they're in a good situation picks wise, with control of all their picks. They also have no bad contracts and tradeable veterans in Middleton and McCollum, who only have one year left on their contracts.

"Thrilled" is probably a little hyperbolic, but he was just a 19 year-old rookie, so giving him a minute to see what he can do in Year 2 and beyond is probably a good idea, heh. He wasn't a turnover factory, he WAS a pretty good shot blocker, and he showed any promise from the corners. He displayed absolutely no touch away from the rim and OUT of the corners, of course, and he was a little underwhelming at the basket (but not bad), but again... 19. Rookie. Needs time to fill out a little, adjust to the pace of the game. He has some promise.

I don't know that they should be trumpeting all over the place about him, but his second season will be pretty important.

Coulibaly needs to learn how to score competently before anyone should be thrilled with him. He passes alright and has good defensive potential but he blooooows at scoring right now. He's also going to be what, 21 this upcoming season, so we'll see. He exhibited some improvement at the line, he's very athletic, he looks kinda like he's developing his handle, so he's another one worth at least seeing how his rookie contract plays out. "Thrilled," though, remains pretty over the top for a guy on a team which won 18 games. Tanking or no, that's pretty rough. And they were on 18-win pace when he did play anyway.

But, control over picks coupled to reasonable contracts is at least helpful. What they need is talent. They need some upper-end talent to drive the team, and they don't seem to have any right now, barring major breakthroughs from the kids. Tre Johnson could be pretty interesting, though of course he's coming into a rough situation and will probably stutter a little as a rookie, as is quite common. So that might take a couple seasons to get going. He is athletic and he can certainly shoot, and is likely going to be a pretty rude corner shooter. Has good reach, too. All the tools, really, so we'll see if he can make some noise for them.

This is another good example at the difference with French born players. Fans on this board can't wrap their head around the notion that a player can actually improve. Sarr is just fine.

I saw him drop an efficient 21 vs. the Hornets and now last night he does that again

might have to pull up for the Magic game because even if we're losing the team is looking fun to watch between Sarr and George.

I think Sarr becomes the best player in the 2024 draft class, the defense is already at a really high floor, he has good court vision and can make nice passes, and now his shot is falling.

I'd LOVE if we got Michael Malone in the building to help develop him
