Let me understand this.
You hate the Mavs franchise. Cool. No challenge there. Understandable.
But you have a Lakers logo... a team that gets things gifted to them? Do you not feel bad about the field not balanced in the NBA? Shouldn't you hate the fact that the Lakers have benefits that most other franchises don't have?
What have the Lakers had gifted to them? lol as another posted mentioned, they had the CP3 trade literally vetoed by the league. Are we talking about the Pau Gasol trade? A trade that turned out to not even be that bad because it netted Memphis Marc Gasol? I guess it doesn't matter how the players turned out though, only how they were viewed at the time of the trade. Guess the Paul George trade wasn't so bad after all!
Is it the Lakers fault your GM is a complete and utter moron and your team is owned by a family that probably couldn't name 5 players in the league? Your narcissistic GM was the one who went to the Lakers with the idea. He had a vision of making a defense-based team and sought out AD. He is an idiot that fell prey to the whispers circulating about Luka being too poorly conditioned/not playing enough defense to win a title after the finals. He saw the Mavs start out 5-1 without Luka and went to Pelinka, the timelines match.
If you guys really think Adam Silver's evil cabal orchestrated the trade behind the scenes to benefit the Lakers, why even watch the league at all?
I actually will take it far less seriously going forward (I guess I never took it that seriously though). I don’t care the reasoning but you cannot act like the Lakers haven’t had more than favourable luck their entire existence. It also definitely benefits the league and this is definitely more an entertainment business than it is a sport. Call it whatever you want, and rationalize the reasoning any way you please, but there’s no denying that the Lakers are gifted so, so, so much more than any other franchise has been and it’s not because the Lakers brass is good. It’s plain to see. If you can’t see it you’ve been sitting on an uneven playing field for too long to recognize it.
It’s still a sport and there have been plenty of times the Lakers were supposed to win and they lost…1969, 2004, and 2013.
The NBA is more balanced than America’s pastime where the Yankees have been getting the best players since Babe Ruth.
I also think the Lakers should get credit for giving Kobe the max when he was past his prime and drafting Lebron’s son. Their brand is they take care of stars. We can’t say the same thing about the Mavericks(Nash, Luka), the Bulls(Jordan, Butler), the Heat(Butler), or the Celtics(Isiah Thomas).
