No, because Dumont doesn’t want to admit that he was an idiot too.

Both are going to blame the „bad luck“ with Kyrie that they awesome plan didn’t work.

Mavs post mortem needs to be „really long mortem“ because the franchise won’t recover for a really long time.

who could have predicted that one dimensional players would look bad without all the opportunities playing with a generational playmaker offers. defense wins championships indeed. looks like the grizzlies are about to champions, since they held TWO opposing starters to ZERO POINTS. ZERO x ZERO

It sucks because these 2 are really, really good role players that you want next to your offensive 1st option, which highlights the absurdity of the trade.
Mavs were built to have very good defense (even elite if you replace Klay with great defender), and a player that can carry massive offensive load on his shoulder, they traded that player away for a player that adds to a saturated strength while creating a gaping hole.
Mavs fans have watched the team try for 5 years to find the right mix of role players, they can identify them them when they have them, PJ and DLive are great role players.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

How is this guy even talking or publicly showing his face anymore. He should just fade off into the shadows like the snake he is

He will trade every remaining pick for the next snake (KD) so the Mavs are really really toast in two years

For whoever thinks this is a fix and Nico was the fall guy, how much money would this be worth?
The guys reputation is tainted forever.
He's going to receive insults and ridicule wherever he goes.
He will have a hard time working in basketball again.
He would need to keep his mouth shut, if there was any fix.
What money should he have been given to go through all this? Is that number realistic, really?

The culture is great and everyone on the team wants to play hard defense now. Mavs have a bright future ahead of them. The only problem is, they need to figure out how to get in to the playoffs first :o

Isiah Thomas is still a prominent voice of the NBA, Ant is a face of the league, Morant is a cultural hero, Miles Bridges still wealthy and employed.
There is no shame anymore. He will do just fine.

Man the Mavs mucked up - cause not only will they never win a ring while Luka is in the league - Luka is going to personally make sure of it -

Ya, that's what makes this even crazier. Not only did you trade a top player, but slandered him on the way out and gave him eternal fuel to burn the league down. Insane strategy.

Add to it that this player is in their conf- allowing them to personally stop your success. Also add that they sent him to the premier franchise that has been the preferred destination for the best free agents AND it becomes insane. Best of Luck Mavs fans but unfortunately Luka is going to avg 40 points against the Mavs and may never lose a game against you guys

Play stupid games (trading Luka), win stupid prizes (not making the playoffs).

What I wanted to say was, sometimes it is not how good are you in your business, it is about connections you have. Travis Schlenk didn't get another job because he proved himself as good GM in previous one.

But the question you ask is all you need to know. What Nico/Adelson/Dumont family did was so stupid it never happened in the histroy of the NBA. Everybody sees it, so why they did it? If it was stupid.

What if Adelson/Dumont family asked him to do that. Option 1 get fired, and they don't have to explain firing of their staff, option 2 do this **** and you will stay on a payroll for some more time, and when you eventually get fired (all GM's get fired at he end) we will take care of you. These owners made their money in Las Vegas, gambling Meca founded by mob. Are Adelson/Dumont family some high ethical people?

Here is how things go

1 Owners want to make money
2 NBA wants to keep their prodact selable.
3 Players want to meke money and some of them want to win
4 Fans want their teams to win and they are ready to pay for that

What selable means is maximizing profit. Sometimes it means cheating like helping certen teams win to make more money for the league. All producers do this. A little worst product for a little bigger prize. It is happenenig in every bussines, and every league. It happened in the NBA multiple times. LA-Sac series is when more and more people started questioning integrity of league. Because in that series NBA has crossed the line. It was obvious.

This trade is crossing the line too, Nico couldn't do it by himself.

In the hood if you get busted and your friend takes the wrap so all his boys can go home, do those friends think he's a scrub? What happens to that friends reputation when he gets out, those friends respect him more or are they all talking smack?

You're asking the question from the perspective of a fan, one who isn't a casual at that, you and your perspective is the least important variable in this situation

The reality is this is big business, politics if you will, and Nico just greased the hands of so many people. Do politicians fall down when they make mistakes or pass harmful legislation, or do they tend to fall up? Funny how what Nico did in the political sphere is normal and expected, but in the business world we all are acting shocked still. Nico literally just set himself up, his children up, and his entire progeny for the the next couple of decades with this move.

He will get any job he wants in basketball, similar to how IT, King, and Dumars are still around. His kids will go to any school they want, get any job opportunity they want, and his family will become part of the psuedo-baron elites of the next generation. In 20 years you'll be watching the Olympics and here his name for the first time in a decade when you see him sitting courtside and find out his nephew is playing for so and so. You won't think twice of it when you turn on your tv in 20 years to some some young girl running for Mayor of some city like LA, but that will be Nico's daughter or niece.

We poor scrubs think in terms of money. These people think in terms of power, and this was definitely a power move, and Nico and his family will be treated like royalty for being the face of the fall

Lala870 wrote:The best part about this entire situation is people really dont think the fix was in to make LA relavent with the corpse of Lebron and a hobbled AD. This "trade" pretty much gets LA out of a rebuild situation for the foreseeable future.

Great timing as well with PHX and naturally Dallas dismantling their rosters so the west will get weaker. Denver is near possible rebuild mode too and D-Mitch is no longer on the west.

AD/NOLA trade 2.0 and magically the Lakers are looking VERY competitive in the west with the recent phantom implosions of all the promising teams from the last few years.

The Lakers are too big to fail and the NBA is worse off for it for basketball purists.

It’s mind boggling mavs didn’t get reaves. Lakers will get a center this offseason and Luka AR can carry them in regular season and
LeBron just needs to put in the effort come playoff time

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Rob Pelinka to a contract extension, with his new title as president of basketball operations along with general manager, sources tell ESPN. Lakers leadership is now signed long-term with Pelinka and coach JJ Redick.

Pelinka hired Redick as the Lakers new coach last offseason, and made the signature Luka Doncic acquisition in February. The Lakers are set up with a face of the franchise for the next 10 years, flexibility and assets this upcoming offseason, and organizational alignment.

Pelinka is going to hire his soldier Nico as GM isn’t he? Its just a matter of time….
