Giannis is by far and away the best player on the planet right now.
still learning the game

Every season there are crazy takes itt but after only 5 games, this year is taking the cake lol

Sure, we don't know whether Wemby can sustain his production and if his body will hold up but after 5 games there is only one correct answer to the MVP question - it's Wemby and it isn't particularly close

The usual "suspects", Jokic, SGA and Giannis are obviously all doing their thing and a few others have started insanely hot (keep smiling, Maxey!) but it's propestrous to argue anyone has been as good, as productive or as impactful as Wemby, are guys just trolling or does anyone actually think one of the aforementioned guys is ahead if Wemby atm?

I don't think it's preposterous to argue that Giannis has been as good/productive/impactful as Wemby.

Yeah I don't see the problem with anyone having Giannis at #1 ahead of Victor though imo Vic is ahead but we're so early and both guys are posting ridiculous stats so it's kind of irrelevant at this point. Giannis has been better offensively but Victor has been absolutely dominant on defense. Interested to see how their numbers stack up to each in about 15 more games. I doubt Giannis will be shooting 57% from three by then though

Top 6 at the end of the year, if they all play enough games will include the following...

Jokic
Wemby
SGA
Giannis
Luka
Whoever the best player is on the #1 seed in the East

Wemby is insane because this Spurs roster has no business being anywhere near the 2nd-ranked Defense in the NBA right now. Wild.
And unsurprisingly, his On/Off Defensive Metrics are also remarkable again this season, much like the last 2 years.

I would be interested in this graph with Spurs stats with Wemby off the court

if having too much help was disqualifying then SGA would not have won last year. its very rare that someone doesnt win MVP because of too much help, and when it does happen the help is usually in the form of a superteam, not the kind of help that Giannis has now.

But I was told Giannis has a garbage supporting cast and needs to demand a trade?

I mean it’s pretty impressive for OKC to have the top defense through 6 with Dub not playing and Chet missing a couple. Testament to SGA being a very good defender.

Sometimes i wonder if you guys just double down on dumb takes like this by principle regardless of what is actually happening

Right this very moment wenbayama has better numbers and play in a better record with a worse team....

They should just call the MVP race in October. Like the last 5 years haven’t told the same story where every NBA player + their mom needs to be considered for MVP in October. Then they disappear from the convo come March.

And this isn’t a knock on Wemby but for god’s sake were 5 games in. Jokic finished last year as being the best player with a sizable gap. 5 games in October didn’t change that lmao
