I'm guessing CP3 talking from the bench and in the locker room just became too toxic. Probably the best move for both parties anyways.

That's probably it. That said, it's not like Paul hasn't been known to be a pain in the ass anywhere but with this late run career. As the old saying goes, if you run into an **** in the morning, you ran into an ****. If you run into an **** every morning, you're the ****.

CP3 isn’t responsible for the team being sloppy ant giving any effort, but unfortunately the man responsible chose to go on no speaking terms with CP3 when he called it out.

I feel bad for some of these fanbases that go from one clownshow owner/front office to another one. Its sad and really not fair.

You know whos the least surprised by this? Chris pauls current and former teammates.

Im looking forward to seeing blake griffin trying to be professional on the nba on prime show while trying not to say "i told you so" while also being egged on by the others. Thats gonna be fun.

it's why i think despite what many think, he will not be a good coach. he doesn't have the temperament for it. i think he'd rather get a job talking about it so he can go on about how people should be doing this and that.

The lesson here is don’t give your job that two weeks notice before you quit. They will fire you

So the issue in this situation isn't whether what CP is saying is wrong or right. The issue is that at CP's age and ability, the other players don't want to hear it, because he can't do it himself. That's the issue, it's not that what he's saying is necessarily wrong, it's that, "yea, we get it, but you suck too, so shut up".

The Clippers have a bit of a leadership and accountability vacuum because Kawhi doesn't speak and is not concerned with leading anyone, Harden isn't really that guy, and Ty Lue is a bit too chill to fully keep guys honest on some things. CP then is trying to fill that role, but the problem is that they don't want Paul to fill that vacuum, and he doesn't have the ability anymore or the clout to fill that vacuum. So both the other players and the coaching staff don't want to hear it from him, especially if he's not delivering his message with tact and being too direct.

Let's be real about CP here, you can't question his heart, his fire or his passion for winning, those are the things that make him annoying when winning is not happening (and even when winning is happening, because he's an attention to detail and particular type of human). One of the biggest problems with him, and it will be a problem if he becomes a coach too and he really needs to read a ton of books on leadership to improve on it. One of the biggest problems is that he generally has ONE method of leading.

The problem with this is that people are different, people respond to different things, so you can't have just one method. Matt Barnes for example loves CP. If CP got on Barnes, Barnes would argue back and they would go back and forth, and they can yell and get tense and then be cool right after. Barnes is cool with that and loves the fire. Other guys don't want to have debates, for them, those tense situations aren't seen as a means to hash it out and get closer, they are seen as unsafe and something to run from. Some of them, if you start going at them, they'll just say "okay, okay", but inside are saying, "man, shut up".

A good leader gets to know how people are different, reads the landscape and adjusts. CP has reportedly adjusted somewhat over time in some of those things, and you see that he's aware of how he comes off and his ways, but it's been his default for a long time and it comes out. Whether he can truly help it or has other tools to manage leadership and tough situations, I'm not sure.

The second thing is that he is a know it all. So if CP makes a mistake he will come at another guy telling them they made the mistake. Again, some guys like a Barnes, JJ, etc, if they know it wasn't their mistake, they will have that debate with him, and he might acquiesce if he was wrong. Some other guys aren't debaters, some other guys will just get annoyed, and in general, no one likes a know it all, and even more so, no one likes a know it all when they are right more than not, because it's still annoying.

So take all that (and yes, Clippers did know who he was, Clippers also thought they would be winning, so they wouldn't have this sort of tension), then add being 40 years old and not able to perform on the court himself and you get this.

Chris actually trolled a few hours ago with a facetime picture with Griffin and Jordan then put it on his IG. This whole thing is petty and funny.

players didn't really respect him or cared about having him there, because if players cared then FO doesn't go around cutting him in this manner and risk more chemistry issues. Dude basically went around rubbing everyone the wrong way. What he said doesn't matter if he said it in a way that nobody wanted to hear.

I never understand this attitude from Laker fans. Your team has won all the titles and the little brother clippers haven't won anything. Why would you 'celebrate' them continuing to suck? It's not some heated rivalry, lol.

I think it’s clippers fans that Lakers fans are annoyed by and dislike, not the clippers themselves.

Absolutely right.

In the lakers down years, all we could hear were LA is now clipper town - Lob City blah blah.. with really nothing to show for it.. to be fair, it wasn’t in RealGM.. it was in some other forums.. yahoo mostly.. which is really trash..

& guess what, lakers got a ring faster than them and in much better position to win another one in the future ..

This is the most Chris Paul way of bowing out.

As a Hawks fan, i realize about a year ago that not drafting CP3 was a good thing, or not so bad.

If Atlanta drafted Paul, it wouldn't have resulted in any championships or MVPs. CP3 is just a stats guy that didn't really do much for winning.

He can't win, but he also has a very well know reputation of being toxic and a locker room cancer.

I thought that when Chris Paul left, he would go out like John Stockton, as maybe the best PG to never win a Championship, but now with all of his ex teammates and coaches now coming out and saying how petty and toxic and what a low life he is, Paul will probably go out as forgotten and with no hall of fame votes.
