Just horrible. :( One of the worst injuries you can pick up.

Only good thing is that he is still young. However with his body type and size, i don't know, you have to think this is a major career changer for him. Just tough.

As a big fan of Boogie, the fact that he got his first postseason experience taken away from him hurts so much that I haven't even begun to think about his future status.

pels were starting to get it going... damnit. also i really hope they dont blow it up or anything and wait it out, AD and Cuz are such a pleasing sight to the eye when playing together. wish him good recovery. he will be missed.

Don’t forget about the Hayward injury. Dude didn’t even get to play one full game in green yet before his serious injury. To me they are equally sad.

Bad luck, Boogie and Pels fans. Sad to see another season ruined prematurely, a shame they didn't get a chance to see what the Twin Towers could've done in the playoffs. That may be the end of that experiment. Also takes one of the few pieces off the board I would've been comfortable moving the Brooklyn pick for.

Just woke up and holy **** ****

What the hell man, how many stars need to be injured this season? Sucks a lot, NO was finally starting to get it together.

Same. Don't like him as a person. But I wouldn't wish injury on anybody. Hope he recovers fully.

This is just crushing... love Cousins' game, and have followed him since he came into the league. He was really playing well and so were the Pels.

I feel like this won't effect his game once he recovers as he doesn't rely much on athleticism.

Does he take a risk and signs a 1+1 year Player Option max and proves his worth to sign a bigger deal in 2019. Or does he take the longest deal the Pelicans offer him even if there is a team option?

Cousins will want to get his money but team's will want to protect their investment. I can see a max level 3 year deal with a team option on the third year or a smaller deal with a player option for Boogie.

I've never been a Demarcus Cousins fan but this is absolutely devastating for him. Achilles issues are no joke, hopefully it doesn't seriously impact his career moving forward - He's such a big guy, I don't know if he'll ever be the same.

Really interested in what the Pels do now. Do they tank for a pick and resign Boogie on a team friendly deal or do they blow it up completely?

What? Why would they blow it up completely?
Their second best (arguably best) player is an imminent UFA and just had a potential career-ender, combined with the rest of the team being overpaid, hot garbage (outside of AD).

These are front and center for me as to why.

Chill out man. Cousins is 27....AD is 24...players come back from injury all the time. The Pels were looking like a 48-50 win team in the West and if they sign cousins will have 2 Top10-15 players on the team. The rest of the roster outside of Holiday is trash, but even 1 saavy trade can make a huge difference. You don't just panic and blow it up...

What does blow it up even mean? Trade AD? The Pels have 0 reason to trade one of the 10 best players not even in his prime until the final year of his deal. Regardless of what happens.

Would have been great to see those guys get playoff action together. They could really have put a scare in a lot of teams.

But they gotta try to resign Boogie and make moves to open up flexibility. Literally any wing player will make a difference for them. They should be trying to get Courtney Lee or something just to shore up the wing rotation.

I'm lost for words. Aside from my Celtics team, I watch a lot of Pelicans and Timberwolves games, cause Cousins, Davis, Towns and Butler are one of my favourite players. Boogie was gonna make it to All NBA (at least 2nd Team, maybe 1st), NOP would have been 5th-6th seed, Boogie would re-sign with them on 5 years max, now everything is crushed. Such a shame that it happened in last 8 seconds in a situation when DMC fought for a ball and tried to make a play to help the team. Life really is unpredictable, in one second one people career and future could be gone just like that.

Best Center in the NBA hands down and I was on this opinion even when he was on garbage Kings team. Complete package for a C, hopefully he will come back at least at 85% of his pre-torn Achilles ability.

Horrible news for Cousins. I wonder how different is an Achilles injury for a big man? Kobe, Wesley Matthews, and Rudy Gay are the only players that I've known to get one recently and not any of them looked the same afterwards.

I think Dominique Wilkins still dominated after tearing his Achilles though.

The All-Star game is PURELY for the fans entertainment... it has no bearing. Players dont care about the results, just look at the last 5 years... no defense, everyone letting each other get layups and dunks... its meaningless... so who cares who subs for him.

Cousins just lost a year and a bit out of his career.... and pelicans, who were looking nice, are now back to the drawing board.

All-Star Game is not entertainment to me, it's used to be a LONG time ago, but today it's ridiculous. To me it's accolade/honor really. Like your kid can look back and be like wow this guy had 9 All-Star games, never heard of him, but he'll now he had to be pretty good because he consistently was in elite company. His ASG stats and MVPs, meh. Even though I do think Malone/Stockton having ASG MVPs was cool back then, because it was a competitive game then, now it's just players trying to stat pad to get a trophy.

Have to imagine it'll be better for Boogie than a typical guard or forward because his game is less reliant on explosiveness, pace and that kind of athleticism.

I think Gay has come back at the same level. He's playing a smaller role but doesn't look a whole lot different and statistically is doing just as well - just playing a smaller role. Also came back in time for the new season, so hopefully Boogie does the same.

Right before he’s about to get paid and more importantly, finally taste the playoffs. He was on his way to an All NBA season too.

Hopefully he’s able to recover.

I’m really annoyed by this constant need to blow up another franchise talk.

You know damn well if these two were on your team nobody would be quick to pull off these pick fetish trades. It doesn’t work like that.

Imagine OKC dealing Westbrook after knee injury or after KD missed the season with a broken foot....or both.
