He is not better than Lord Bendtner.

But i thought he was just a "poor man's Draymond Green". With "Draymond having had re-established himself as a top 10 player in the league this playoffs."

He's two years younger. But the reality is he's been playing basketball his entire life, and even had a pro player for a father. And then, of course, Siakam only started playing when he was 17. Siakam continues to improve by leaps and bounds, while Simmons is the same player he was in college.

I would pick him over Simmons knowing what we know now, no doubt. The improvement curve looks high on Siakam and flat on Simmons, while Simmons has played ball all his life, Siakam has less experience, this offsets the age thing. I was one of the few who liked Siakam pre draft, but obviously not as much to pick him top 10.

not right now, i think next season if simmons jumper doesn't improve and siakam keeps developing this will change tho.
I don't know why people are getting mega high on Siakham now - yes, he gave Draymond Green the business but for most of the playoffs he has been pretty bad. People criticize Simmons for not being that good in the post season, then Pascal should (and did) get the same criticisms, only difference is Pascal's team is in the finals and Simmons is not (and if I can recall, Lowry was a bigger deal in beating Milwaukee than Pascal was). It's only the past few games Siakham has stepped it up.
Pascal was awesome during the regular season, but he is hardly this juggernaut in the post season - he has his limits just as Simmons does.
Siakam has not been bad in the playoffs. And he only started to struggle a bit after he got injured vs the Sixers.

Re: Who is Lord Pascal?
The easy MIP but we seem to all agree on that.
Spicy P has no limits. Someone said it on one of the post-game shows, Pascal seems to have very little bad habits since he didn't grow up around the game. He's got a relatively minimal move set and it's not the most fluid because he just doesn't have the same number of reps as other players his age.. but he's got such a good natural feel for the game.
However, you wanna rate him compared to other young players (25 and under).. He's an easy buy for me because his growth rate is pretty damn non-linear.

In a re-draft, would you take Spicy P over Ben Simmons?

his defense is elite (.35 points per possession as a defender in isolation which ranks him best among all players who’ve tallied at least 15 possessions) and he's putting up averages of 19.4ppg and 7.1rpg both of which are up from the regular season...so yeh I'd say he has been pretty awesome especially when you account for the calf injury he suffered in the second round
mans didn't watch him make thompson **** his pants

We already have too many Siakam threads on the GB right now. I'm merging this into the megathread.

Yeah I think the rest before the finals was huge for him, gave him a chance to recover. After that injury he’s been playing games every other day until they beat the Bucks

Thank goodness he never got acquainted with the AAU. Watching him just makes me loathe Josh Smith’s horribly misguided career all over again. He had twice the hops and vision of Siakam, still a fraction of the player. Siakam’s Win Shares are better than when Josh’s peaked in his 6th season.

Not really that great. Maybe worth the 3rd pick in the draft at best. If Kawhi bolts you should be looking at that deal.

Doubtful as of now and given he's 25 and Simmons is about to be 23, I think the youth factor likely is still giving Simmons the nod. That said nobody would think you were crazy to switch them.

I'm taking Siakam before Simmons 100 times out of 100.
Siakam is a darkhorse potential future MVP (long shot but it's a possibility). He'll make at least a couple of All-NBA teams.
Simmons is younger but the lack of a jumpshot will always put a ceiling on his career. I don't see him fixing that thing.

How much is youth a factor here though? Siakim has shown that he can improve in strides while Simmons, who has seemingly been playing organized ball for almost his entire life, still cant shoot beyond 5 feet.
