They dumped Wiggins contract that would have cost picks to move and got a good player back. That is a big win for the Wolves

Wiggins will easily fill the role of Barnes. They now have 2 amazing picks (their own this year and Minny's next year) to get a PF/C to complete their roster. The whole world knew that a Curry/Russell backcourt could never work. They would get eaten alive defensively. The reason why the Warriors have been great is because they have been a top notch offensive AND defensive team.
Rockets should take notes...
Curry
Klay
Wiggins
Green
MLE or draft picks
Add in a player like Ibaka and they are THE FAVOURITES to win next year.
Also, his contract is terrible, they should at least asked for another frp from Minnie if not two.
He might suck on defense when the team is requiring him to score 20+ per game. When he will be asked to score 15PPG, I'm sure he will be able to expend more energy on the defensive end. All he has to do is fill the role of being a more expensive Barnes, who wasn't an All NBA defensive type anyways.
He was trash in 2017-18 when he had a smaller role playing behind Butler and Towns.

Wiggins EFFORT and work ethic are non existent. This trade is a huge win for the Timberwolves.

I think I’d have traded him for Love instead, especially if you could try to get Garland too. Steph, Klay, Love, Green is pretty good.

Warriors got the player they wanted.
I dont think that the team that built a dynasty last years dont know what they do.
They signed Dlo in order to trade him and they did

Agreed, I thought GSW would have to add a few first to make this happen. Great job by Warriors FO. Minnesota just can't seem to catch a break these days

Well, it took 4 years, but Warriors finally got their Harrison Barnes replacement they have been looking for.

Very interested to see how Kerr coaches up Wiggins. GS brought out the best in Spellman before the trade.

I mean, we'll find out soon enough but, in my opinion, Russell doesn't move the needle enough to warrant the 1st and 2nd round picks.
Look at their stats, Russell is marginally better offensively and they both suck defensively in general, except Wiggins can actually be a good defender when he's engaged. I stand by my original statement.

Awful trade for Minnesota. Trading for a no defense playing chucker to go with a disgruntled superstar who already has to be begged to try hard on defense. So he'll have his club buddy for another year and a half and when they still suck and don't make the playoffs he'll still want out.
So they are saying it's top 3 protected? Wolves are #5 right now in the tank race. The 4th - 6th pick has so much more value than MeAngelo Russel on that deal. This is an insane haul for GSW.
Think about this, they have a chance if the ping pong balls cooperate to have traded a one legged corpse of Kevin Durant for the #4 pick in the draft and the Wiggins project. PLUS by enacting the tank with MeAngelo leading the brigade have their own possibly #1 pick this year. Just insane how quickly they can reload.
Hmmm I never thought of it that way and I just learned about the pick protection. Warriors can very well be loaded next year with 2 top 10 picks coming along with their stars coming back. But taking on Wiggins and his contract is alot,
For the Wolves, this buys them time . I think this is all to keep Towns happy and I think it should for at least another year like you said. Still won't be good but whatever.
Yes time will absolutely tell, if KAT and DeAngelo decide to play defense and the ping pong balls hose the pick it'll look really good for Minnesota. But there's nothing he's ever done that makes me think Russell will care any more than Wiggins did about playing defense. I'd bet more on Wiggins improving after being in a winning environment like GSW, than Russell going to a cluster **** like Minn and turning it around.

Re: Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins
People overrate D’Angelo and underrate Wiggins fr. I always thought they were on the same tier, with D’Angelo being a bit higher than Wiggins but still similar level. The FRP and 2nd round pick make up the difference. I’m sure GSW gauged D’Angelo’s value around the league and this was the most value (maybe not the best fit as they could have had Covington).

I think they'll be better, just off the fact that their besties. And Wiggins wanted to be the man so bad. I think Dlo/Towns will check their ego for each other.

How do the Warriors take Wiggins over Covington??? And why did the Wolves give away Covington for nothing? This makes no sense!

Agreed.
I'm just looking at him to be a Harrison Barnes, who I don't think much of, rather than the guy who was drafted 1st overall and is making 30 million a season.

What could we have offered though that would interest GSW?
Mitchell Robinson and a first rounder (plus filler like Portis, Payton, etc.). That was probably discussed but I guess Minnesota decided it wasn't worth it. Other than that yeah, not much. As a Warriors fan, I would have far preferred that.

Re: Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins
As a Wolves fan, I totally get that DLo might not--hell, probably won't--work out. Hard to see the Wolves contending unless he and KAT become much better defensive players.
But the optimism about Wiggins in this thread is absolutely jarring. DLo has at least led a team to some wins and put together some consistent stretches of excellent basketball. As someone who has suffered through watching most games during every year of Wiggins' time in the NBA, allow me to confirm what the statistics say quite clearly: Andrew Wiggins is a fundamentally bad basketball player. He is capable of amazing things from time to time. He even plays a few amazing games a year. But he does not see the game well, cannot make reads on defense, cannot shoot free throws, is a below-average passer, cannot be made to care enough to rebound, and fundamentally does not seem to care that much about basketball.
There's a joke among Wolves fans that Wiggins is a 6th Year Rookie. Surely he's about to put it all together. Good luck with that.
