I remember hearing "this doesn't help the Nets at all" when we traded for Harden too. LMAO

The Nets will be very fortunate if they're able to get that level of value from Blake.

Yep, those 2 moves are like peas in a pod.

If Nets win the title with Griffin and Jordan, could you see Paul deciding to just ring chase and join this year's winner for next season?

Yeah because people act like talent doesn't override fit. It does.
Blake was openly tanking his way out of Detroit. I could care less how he played this year.

This feels similar to the Warriors getting cousins. Name cache is higher than the actual value.

Correction, he's done as one of the main options for a team but he's far from done as a nba player. Please remember your statement when he looks great as a supporting player. He's always been an underrated passer so he'll fit in great.
There is no correction here. The Nets deathball lineup will most certainly consist of Durant/Harris/Kyrie/Harden... and they need another Big, and Blake simply can't play Center because he is like 6'9 with shot knees... He was never even an elite defender in his prime, let alone now.
Griffin seems like one of the worst fits possible. Horrible defensively (which is what Brooklyn needs the most, by far). Offensively he's not a good shooter and his passing isn't good enough to really justify using him as some sort of passing hub when you have Harden on the team who is one of the best volume playmakers in NBA history, and Kyrie and Durant who are plenty capable in that regard as well, certainly more than Griffin...
He is being added for FREE. If he truly sucks, he rots on the bench or gets released.
More realistically, he provides depth at a position they truly lack. Whoever has it going between him or Green get to play more, it's that simple. So all it does it provide them another weapon.

They were sleepwalking to the title with or without him. Solid move from Blake. Gets a free ring and can play 10-15 minutes off the bench and contribute.

Becoming a legend means overcoming difficulty, not playing with 3 mvps in their prime, multiple other all stars in prime, dpoy in prime, and elite bench guys
He will never have one of those all time legendary moments, such as Lebron in 2016, Hakeem in 1995, Dirk in 2011, 2003 Duncan
He has also capped himself at 1 mvp, he had/has the talent to be a top 5-10 guy, but he will never be there with 1 mvp and no legendary moments
You mean Like LeBron carrying the Lakers to the lottery in 2018?
Then trying to get two top 7 players to to create his super team?
Just Stop, LA will not will another championship with LeBron as the leader, best hope is Giannis requests a trade to play with Davis.
I'm not sure but I think KD will win more chips then LeBron.

Re: Shams: Blake Griffin to Brooklyn
The Nets really have nothing to lose here, Blake looked disinterested in Detroit, he's likely better than his stats show. He's also going to be in a very limited role compared to Detroit, there is absolutely no pressure. He's also going to get a lot of open looks and much better matchups so hopefully (for their sake) he can be productive.
The only reason I don't love it is because the Nets already have more than enough offensive firepower, Blake doesn't really help them on the defensive side of the ball. I would have thought they'd target a C in the buyout market, if one became available.

I don't think he has much choice next season unless he wants to leave a bunch of money on the table in a buyout, but I hope he's able to win a ring before he retires. I think he's earned the right to ring-chase if he wants to

Age, injury and lack of defense? Not so much. Speaking about Blake specifically, not the rest of your roster.
If you think Blake's poor play is the result of him deliberately dogging it out there, again, I'll respectfully say you haven't seen much of the situation in Detroit, as I can assure you I have.
This isn't taking on a star who might not fit in. It's taking on a guy who isn't a star anymore. Worth the risk at a minimum contract? Sure. But to say this is a game changer is misinformed to put it kindly.

Imagine someone said 3 or 4 years ago we will see a lineup of Irving, Harden, Durant, Griffin and Jordan

Cousins post-Achilles injury was still decent. His ACL tear in summer 2019 ended his career. IMO Cousins now is still more useful than Griffin. Nets should get Cousins too. Create the most stacked team in history of basketball even if Cousins and Griffin are both done.

I'm hoping the Suns meet Brooklyn in the NBA Finals...they have the 2 seed in the West now.

All Blake has to do is play the Bruce brown role and let harden find him like he does with Bruce

Between DeAndre Jordan, Nicolas Claxton, and small-ball Jeff Green and Blake Griffin, another center isn't what'll make or break this team. I'm sure they'd be better with an Andre Drummond or Hassan Whiteside, but that acquisition isn't what'd put them over the hump (assuming they're not already over it, which I'd disagree with).
NBA fan first, Nets fan second, Grayson Allen hater third

And yet LeBron tried to get Kawhi to join him last year.
LeBron also wants to make super teams. Durant is just better at it.
This is definitetly true, but in hindsight, I like it much better that LA won a title with AD and LeBron rather than with all 3. Titles hit differently when it's a bit tougher.
