I don't think Masai would trade Lowry away from his preferred destination if the offers are relatively equal.

Come on man... Rob won a title the second he shed Magic, and added even more talent in the offseason. His career is made.

He's actually underpaid right now. I trust the Lakers' player development staff. Guys like Phil Handy would work wonders with THT. If we were just reckless about including young guys, you'd be left with an underwhelming present and 0 future.
THT in Toronto or LA has a great chance to reach his potential.
So if it came down to it you would've kept Kuzma/Ingram/Ball instead of including Kuzma in the trade for Davis?
I think that goes to show how much people overrate the uncertainty of the future and underrate the established. Kuzma/Ingram/Ball would never lead the Lakers to anything. Similarly, once LeBron is gone, THT and an older Davis isn't accomplishing anything so it's senseless to waste LeBron's remainder of his prime so that he and Davis can carry an underwhelming roster to a 2nd round exit this year. Instead of making the clear upgrade to a promising LeBron/Davis/Lowry trio that would be the favorites to win the title the next couple years.
Of course I'd take AD over those guys. I'm saying that standing firm on Kuzma was the right thing to do though, just as haggling over THT is correct. Even if you don't believe in Kuzma or THT as players, they have value for future transactions. For instance, what if you moved Kuzma for another valuable piece later in your title run?
Well yeah because the Lakers actually had a ton of assets outside of Kuzma to make it worth New Orleans' while. Ball, Ingram, the #4 pick, and future picks is good enough where you can afford to hold out Kuzma, but if it came down to getting the deal done or not getting AD, it would've been dumb not to include him.
In this case, THT is basically the only asset LA has. Why does Toronto care about having the privilege of overpaying Schroder at $20 million per year? In this case, if not being willing to include THT is what stops you from getting Lowry and allows a direct competitor like the Clippers to get him, it will be a hilariously poor decision on the part of the Lakers.

Re: Trade Deadline Countdown mega rumour thread
If he prefers Miami, he most likely goes there. He's already in Florida too. Good culture, good place to retire. But trading him for Duncan Robinson is a bad return from a Toronto PR perspective imo. Also, I don't think that gets them to the Finals, but I'd love to see them up against Philly and the Nets

I find it hilarious Lakers are holding THT back like this. I like his potential and want him on the Raps, but he's not gonna help you win in 2021 or 2022, and after that, Lebron is like 40, so who cares.

I think he's been pretty lucky. Standing pat this trade deadline would be a huge mistake, and he shouldn't be putting all his eggs in the Lowry basket. That said, he has high job security to say the least.
