Pretty sure kyrie said he wanted to retire young anyways. So now he’s got a quasi retirement that gives him 20ish mill for the next couple years while he sits on his azz.

Any other player, I’d say they’re gonna get the vaccine but kyrie honestly comes off as a guy with conviction

Wildly more immoral to terminate one's kin than to refuse to take an experimental chest cold vaccine.

Did someone in this thread really compare Kyrie refusing the vaccine to Rosa Parks not giving up her seat on the bus? Bruh. He wont even come out and explain his decision. At the very least Issac and Wiggins (prior to getting it) explained why.

Kudos to the nets FO for doing the logical thing. You can't have a part-time player.

Is it immoral to force someone to have a baby in a country that has a for-profit medical industry, putting them into debt. And then providing no social services to support the family and baby that was had? Further perpetuating the systemic cycle of poverty?

Is that immoral?

I hope this turns into his retirement, so we don't have to hear about him again.

Maybe go start a cult of some sort with Kanye West, they should get along great, I reckon.

This law was struck down by the Supreme Court in 1990.

I can't believe you actually thought it was still illegal to step on a flag.

He won't get paid if they suspend him, which is the next logical step.
Marks already said he won't practice or play with the team but will only lose salary for the home games.

Why would the Sixers want that. As big of a headache as Simmons has been, he still pales in comparison to Kyrie. Maybe is Simmons had stuck to his guns with not playing until there is a trade... maybe the Sixers would have considered it. But now that he's gonna play, why would you want Kyrie when he's barely going to be eligible to play in half the games this season (and the foreseeable future)?

Kyrie is disgruntled, Simmons is disgruntled. Kyrie can play all the games in Philly he would just miss the Knicks and Nets.

I’m assuming Simmons would be more ready to listen to guys like Nash, KD and Harden over Embiid. Simmons gets a reboot and Kyrie avoids missing 41 home games.

Neither has too much trade value as is. The Nets get worse but they get a player who isn’t limited to half the games and has something to prove.

I'll admit, I wasn't as aware of the vaccination situation in Philly as I was NY and just assumed given proximity they were relatively similar. Obviously in this case, if it's not the same situation where Kyrie would miss half the games for Philly, that changes the calculation for both teams considerably.

The Sixers still would need some assurances that Kyrie wouldn't just up and retire after the trade though... again, I don't put anything past that dude. Unlike Ben, Money and winning just don't seem like they're that much of a pull for that dude considering how much he's already earned and that he's already got a ring.

nbapa could file a grievance b/c a team can tell a player to stay home but they can't refuse to pay him.

They could suspend him, though. His actions are detrimental to the team, etc. They're trying to have it both ways.

They can't suspend him because they are unwilling to let him practice and play off the bench in away games.

Seems unnecessarily punitive imo, especially since the city said he could still practice with the team.
Whether you like Kyrie or not, and I'm not a fan, the Nets are better when he's available. The team talking about building chemistry, well, that should include building chemistry with one of your three best players.
I have to think that come playoffs they are welcoming him back regardless, even if he's not available for home games. Feels like this is just an attempt to strong arm him into getting vaxxed tbh.

The other question re: Simmons for Kyrie trade idea, do the Nets even want Simmons? Granted, maybe just to get the headache of Kyrie to go away they would for that alone, but from a fit standpoint, I don't see how Ben would be a good fit with that team... especially with Harden. Both Harden and Simmons need the ball in their hands almost exclusively to be the best versions of themselves as players

If that trade were to happen, it would probably make the most sense for it to be a 3 team deal with Simmons going elsewhere and the Nets getting pieces from the 3rd team.

Nah, you still are not, unless you show me proof that you guys predicted the pandemic and a vaccine mandate. Kyrie has not been a locker room cancer here like Celtics fans told us he would be. This situation is entirely related to a vaccine mandate and Kyrie is no doubt a dumbass for his stance, but he has been a well liked, popular figure in the Nets locker room. They're separate things.

Legally and medically it's not a person until birth, you know, when it starts breathing on it's own and stuff.
