Why would the Sixers want that. As big of a headache as Simmons has been, he still pales in comparison to Kyrie. Maybe is Simmons had stuck to his guns with not playing until there is a trade... maybe the Sixers would have considered it. But now that he's gonna play, why would you want Kyrie when he's barely going to be eligible to play in half the games this season (and the foreseeable future)?
Kyrie is disgruntled, Simmons is disgruntled. Kyrie can play all the games in Philly he would just miss the Knicks and Nets.
I’m assuming Simmons would be more ready to listen to guys like Nash, KD and Harden over Embiid. Simmons gets a reboot and Kyrie avoids missing 41 home games.
Neither has too much trade value as is. The Nets get worse but they get a player who isn’t limited to half the games and has something to prove.
I'll admit, I wasn't as aware of the vaccination situation in Philly as I was NY and just assumed given proximity they were relatively similar. Obviously in this case, if it's not the same situation where Kyrie would miss half the games for Philly, that changes the calculation for both teams considerably.
The Sixers still would need some assurances that Kyrie wouldn't just up and retire after the trade though... again, I don't put anything past that dude. Unlike Ben, Money and winning just don't seem like they're that much of a pull for that dude considering how much he's already earned and that he's already got a ring.
