Re: 2021-22 NBA Rookie Thread (part 4)
Wagner is much more impressive than I thought. There really isn't much to criticize for rookie standards.
I was actually looking up a stat yesterday where Barnes was the only rookie since 96 with at least 15/5/3 and less than 2 turnovers, and Franz has 14.9/4.7/2.8 and only 1.4 TOV. He should grab a couple more rebounds at 6-10 and the mid range percentages could improve but for a rookie he is very good.

The answer to that has been our starting lineup is a two big lineup just like Cleveland with WCJ and Bamba there at least before COVID. He should get more run there with these lineups Mobley has been running these past few days.
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

I really like Franz. I was hyping up all the big forwards in the Raps forums when everyone was gushing over Suggs. Big wings>guards every time unless that guard is extremely skilled.

Suggs offense is dissapointing but his defense was propably better than advertised. His frame and athletecism is perfect for modern game. So many guards are viewed as empty stats/defensive liabilities but Suggs had positive impact on the floor even with his atrocious shooting and ball handling.
I am not worried with him. Elite perimeter defenders are becoming more and more valueable.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I still think Suggs will be a big-time scorer. His FT rate is nearly double what the other rookies are. He hasn't found the rythym on his shot but I still think he'll be a good shooter.
All 3pt shooters aren't the same. Some only shoot wide-open set shots at a low volume and Suggs has been taking 3 pt shots that he creates at a high volume.
We've also seen Suggs blow 2-3 layups per game because he's rushing. He only shoots 540 at the rim.

Wagner is not good if he takes too many shots. He should limit to max 15 shots per match to be efficient.

How's Wagner's defense? I've watched a few games but I cant tell lol. He looks slow laterally but has good IQ that helps him cover for that.

eh. Neither is great, but weak offense great defense is worse than weak defense great offense from the guard spot.

Have you seen the boxscores lately? We have like 4 of our normal 15 guys available right now. The rest of the roster is filled by replacement players that have no business taking on large roles. That leave Gary Harris, Chuma Okeke, and Robin Lopez to share the offensive load

Wagner has been getting double-teamed the last couple games. He need to adjust and pass out more.srhcan wrote:Wagner is not good if he takes too many shots. He should limit to max 15 shots per match to be efficient.
I think he'll have a high-volume, high-efficiency game soon.

You're welcome to prop Bones up. The draft was so deep a lot of these guys could be future all-stars.BlazersBroncos wrote:Can we unsticky this and rename it Barnes VS Wagner and create a new Rookie Thread?

I haven't paid much attention to Hyland play yet but he's putting up great stats. He just turned 21 and is averaging 19 PPG per 36. That's higher almost all of the lottery picks.
Not sure any team picks better than Denver.

Half of the good rookies are out right now but here is a nice Giddey reel from the last game,
Played one of his best defensive games and the chemistry with Shai already stands out. Good to see.

Sengun keeps delivering. Jalen Green 4 3s in his first game back so far.
