Porzingis would opt out if not dealt and Wizz would lost him for nothing. Maybe Porzingis value is just low around the league. I remind all of you that Mavs sold him for Dinwiddie, a terrible contract in Bertans and a 2nd round pick.

Warriors should've traded green for unicorn in the 3 team trade.

This trade was an absolute gut punch and makes me want to cry but I think it was a great deal.

Let's not rewrite history here

Bertans at the time was a net positive even if the contract at that point was a slight overpay given his output

Mind you that he just had a career season in which he played the most games since his rookie year.

Wizard did really good, they had 2 options:
A - Porzingis enters into FA, and lose him for nothing
B - trade him where he is willing to play 1 season

They used B and got underrated Tyus Jones, big win.

The Wizards... they're moronically incompetent. They gave Hachimura to the Lakers for free. They're on brand. No surprises.

The Grizzlies just pulled off a very nice trade: they can now slot a DPOY guard next to Ja, who can also help keep him focused. Fantastic contract. Outstanding addition to their team.

But the Celtics... what in holy hell did they just do?

They could've trimmed some contracts to keep them under the tax apron. Grant Williams, Horford, Muscala, Griffin, and Gallo would've sufficed with no significant loss of assets. But no. They had to literally find a away to make one of the few trades that adds significant risk to what was otherwise going to continue being a half-decade of Eastern Conference dominance.

They traded their best guard, on an outrageously good contract, for an injury prone Porzingis. Kristaps' latest playoff experience was putting up 13 ppg in a 7 game series against the Clippers. In that series, the Clippers played their only 7-footer, Zubac an avg of 14 mpg. Awful trade for the Celtics.

As a Raptors fan...

Great job Brad Stevens.

Two late first rounders and a backup PG for a DPOY in his prime and on a great contract. That's a steal.

On one hand this is a great trade for the Celtics. On the other hand I don't want to live in a world that Marcus Smart is not on the Celtics. To me he was the heart and sole of that team. Just wow...

Alot of people are confused.

Both Tyus Jones and KP will be free agents next summer while Smart has a 3 year contract.

Grizz also traded two late first round picks 25 this year and the Warriors pick next year.

People get crazy when they hear multiple first round picks but late 20 something picks are no that valuable especially with the team full of young players like Memphis who starving for veteran lederadership.

I understand that they want to start an overdue rebuild, but it seems downright incompetent to acquire zero young prospects and zero first rounders for Beal and Porzingis. Terrible asset management by the Wiz...befuddling. This is not how you start a rebuild.

Beal had one of the worst contracts in the league. Porzingis was on an expiring deal (no long term control for the Wiz) with known injury concerns. The names themselves are big but there are red flags for the teams trading for them.

Boston is in a win now situation, so getting back a 19 year old teenager for Brown doesn’t make too much sense.

But Brown to Portland (can throw in one of those new 1st round picks BOS just got if Brown by himself isn’t good enough), #3 and cap to NO, BI to Boston. Everyone is happy. Portland gets a star vet to go with Dame. NO gets Scoot who they really want. Boston gets to avoid the Supermax to Brown and they get some more playmaking.

I will speak this into existence!!! (Plus I think it’s a pretty solid trade all around)

You know what, this is indeed a trade that makes sense for all 3 teams. Boston is probably fine not doing that trade but has enough incentive to do that and the other two would straight up love it.

I'd rather have 35 than 25 for salary flexibility. The tier of roulette slots is basically the same.

I like the trade for the chaos and of course the fact that two of these teams will be crying in their craft beer.

That's nonsense. A lot of Celtics fans are acting like Marcus was DJ. He wasn't. They needed to mix it up and redo this core. This needed to be Tatum and Browns team, not Smart. The most important player on the Celtics until he got dealt was Smart.
