Great pickup for OKC.

The crazy thing is they’ve picked up Caruso/Hartenstein without going into their war chest of picks.

They have plenty of options if they want to add more depth.

Clincher wrote:It's a lot of money per year but Hartenstein is one of those players who does so much more than the box score or his average stats dictate, he is always in the right spots, makes good passes, has a really good short range jumpshot and is egoless. Presti knows what he is doing here.

It’s simply right place, right time

Fills a position of need for OKC at a time when they have massive cap space available otherwise he’s worth a fraction of that contract

Good for him

Dang, I was hoping the Knicks could snag Goga having lost iHart. Now he's gone too.

We had offered him the most we could and he was likely going back to the Knicks without a big difference in price. Thunder had to come in way over.

You guys should trade for Nurkic somehow. Thibs can probably turn him into above average defensively and offensively he can provide about the same if not more than Hartenstein did.

Mannnnn I loved me some Nurk but the injuries really sapped him of his athleticism. He's just too slow and ground bound at this point. Like, he misses bunnies left and right too.

Oh, I'm saying this as a fan. I have autographed Nurkic memorabilia.

This is a steal if anything.

$30M/yr is a steal for Hartenstein?

Valaciunas just got paid $10M/yr. Hartenstein is not $20M/yr better than JV.

It's a steal- for Hart.

I think I get why OKC did this though, this is their window for such a signing and they are not risking half-assing it and losing out on their FA target.

OKC is crazy talented.

Some crazy stats:

They have 2 of the best guards in steals (Shai is #1, Caruso #2).

They have 2 players that are the best at locking down stars (Dort, Caruso).

With Hartenstein on the floor for 1,896 minutes, the Knicks are allowing 110.3 points per 100 possessions, a number that would rank second in the NBA.

Chet is ranked #2 in blocks and #5 in defensive rating.

iHart will help the Thunder win more regular season games than last year so possibly be the best record in the regular season of any team but watching him struggle against the bigger Embiid, the stretch big Turner and the smaller rim running Isiah Jackson outside of a few outstanding stretches of play tells me they won't know if he's going to help them to a title until the playoffs when they play the best of the best.

Against 80 percent of the league he's pure gold, against the top 20% he didn't really show up in the playoffs last season. Time will tell if he's the missing piece or not for a title run.

This is the type of move "everyone" wanted them to make. Great stuff.

Chet excels on the weak side. With Hartenstein positioned on the strong side, he acts as a strategic decoy, allowing Chet to leverage his strengths. The primary challenge for Chet is facing more physically dominant players inside. However, on the weak side, his agility and height enable him to effectively execute double teams and maintain control of the middle.

A player of Embiid's caliber will need to contend with Hartenstein while remaining vigilant of Chet's tactical maneuvers from behind, which will play on his weakness passing the ball around some of the best guards in deflections and steals.

Williams takes the next step to become a better 2nd option and it's a wrap.

Blah blah blah sounds great on a forum until it has to be played out in actual pressure filled playoffs basketball....good luck.

They ranked third in opponent FG% with Giddey. Now, they've incorporated two borderline All-Defensive NBA players. This is not mere rhetoric.

Anton is probably gettable for the Knicks , esp as he is a defensive beast.
