Re: Nico Harrison decides to double down on stupid
I want to know the real reason why Luka got traded. Did ownership tell Nico to trade luka? Or was all this Nico’s idea?
Has any of it been confirmed by the media?

I don't think anyone in the media has the balls to ask that question directly to Nico and the Mavs organisation.

Nico’s ego couldn’t handle Luka, so he went with his plan to Patrick „Shaq had an alltime work ethic“ Dumont, who - as a clueless idiot - gave the green light

Nico Harrison doesn't like Luka and doesn't believe he's a winning player, he systematically stripped the org of the old guard that liked Luka, and brought his own people, he also traded or didn't re-sign all.of Luka's freinds, the plan was to trade him in the off season but couldn't do it because Mavs went to the finals, he used the calf injury excuse to do it.

Dumont also said he wasn't ready to give Luka his supermax. He then went on a rant "don't take vacations on our team" when Luka finally wanted to heal 100%. On top of that, he is willing to give AD his max which would be only 10M per year below Doncic's lol. Then Nico explained it further with that famous quote about Shaq and others, how some are not willing to put in the extra work while praising Kyrie and Kobe to be great examples for that. He didn't even mention Dirk at that time, but he did further disrespect him in recent interview. So i guess he doesn't even care anymore at this point.
Clowns running the circus in that front office.

Nico knows Dumont can’t fire him because they are in the boat of stupidity together and Dumont knows that Adelson won’t fire him because he is the son in law and Adelson just cares about the arena-casino getting done.
Thats why Nico doubled down.
The Dirk/Luka Mavs franchise is dead.

It sucks because these 2 are really, really good role players that you want next to your offensive 1st option, which highlights the absurdity of the trade.
Mavs were built to have very good defense (even elite if you replace Klay with great defender), and a player that can carry massive offensive load on his shoulder, they traded that player away for a player that adds to a saturated strength while creating a gaping hole.
Mavs fans have watched the team try for 5 years to find the right mix of role players, they can identify them them when they have them, PJ and DLive are great role players.
They really did come up with the perfect roster for a generational point forward to fit in. They moved him and now all those pieces that looked good next to him look bad. They dont have assets to fix the hole. This has really been a master class of impatience and hubris.
From the Finals to being eliminated from the play in all in a single season.
As someone who was worried about facing the Mavs this year, this situation has been beautiful to see unfold. Its like a Greek tragedy.
You had Dirk. You had an even potentially stronger successor (Not to slight Dirk's accomplishments, we have higher expectations for Luka). You disrespected it all and tore up the legacy for lunacy.

I am going to repeat what i posted back in February- Players like Luka don't grow on trees. Global icon, drives ticket sales, merch, marketable and is a winner. I just looked up the nba attendance and the Mavericks are number one. Even if the Mavericks were to win a championship I don't think that's enough to offset the financial and cultural impact of losing Luka. Anthony Davis isn't close to being a marketable player like Luka. This is the type of trade that can get not only the gm fired but marketing and sales execs as well. You would think Nico being a former Nike executive would know better.
Imagine the Rockets trading Yao Ming - That's what the trade felt like. People don't realize how big Luka in Dallas was. He wasn't just another player. I don't think a championship can make up for that.

Luka is a generational player and he's very likeable, marketable, a huge trash talker and plays his best in the biggest moments - he's exactly what you want in a player.
The dude last year put up arguable one of the greatest statistical seasons ever averaging 34, 9 and 10, and led his team to the finals, putting on an absolute clinic in the playoffs.
If I were Nico I would literally be thanking the basketball gods for being in a position to be the GM of a team with one of the greatest players in NBA history at the age of 25 - I would be doing everything humanly possible to keep him happy because you know if you have a guy like Luka you have a chance to compete for a chip for the next 10 years.

I have trouble believing this guy is so out of touch with the reality and gravity Doncic had on that franchise.

It's **** bewildering.
As a Raptor fan I would literally give up our entire roster to get Luka...every serious NBA fan knows how **** good this guy is.

Just think of how I feel as a Suns fan seeing we had the opportunity to take him and instead settled on... Deandre "Ain't Him" Ayton.

Yes, but even worse that Nico just witnessed Luka average 34, 9 and 10, leading his team to the finals in dominant fashion, AND HE STILL TRADED HIM.

Regardless of who masterminded the trade, it will haunt them in a couple of years.

You ever see someone that joins a well established company and everything is going great. Almost too great. To the point where you have to establish yourself as the leader. You have to make a decision just to show your power in the organization. that's what this feels like. Nico and his ego couldn't take the fact that he didn't draft Luka, that the Mavs success wasn't due to him

This is why this reeks of the owners meddling.
