Forget Caitlyn Clark. I think the argument is whether Angel Reese is a bigger star than the young NBA stars, and I think she may just be.

Reese? The unskilled player? LOL

Reese has proven that even rebounding specialists can be stat padders, something I didn't even think was possible until she came along.

You gotta be impressed with her ability to handle the pressure.

The world is watching and she's carrying a league on her back.

She's going to get players paid like never before.

Well it’s a race thing but she is really talented. WNBA is going through their Bird and Magic stage it feels like but good for them. The players should financially benefit from the increased attention come their next CBA.

Yet they hate her out of jealousy :banghead:

Those girls should be happy that CC brings attention/money.
She is responsible for bigger contracts.

Stars are aligned for WNBAs rise and they better not fumble this. Clark/Angel are Magic/Bird reincarnated, obviously not in terms of basketball but in terms of capturing the public's interest.

There's definitely a market for women's sports - see tennis for example. Might be time for a Stern style dress code to be put in so the players are made to be presentable and maintain a base level of femininity. If that happens, sky is the limit for WNBA

Women's Euro Basket is currently taking place here in Greece. I don't think anyone cares tbh.
And if people don't care about their national teams you get the picture of how unpopular women's basketball is.
It's a US thing.

NBA is global though. That's what some people on this thread need to realise.
Forget about superstars.
Guys like Jrue Holiday or Trae Young are known globally. Women players are not. I don't know what's so difficult to understand.

No way. Nobody outside the US knows who Caitlyn Clark is or what team she plays for. In fact, most countries outside the US dont even broadcast WNBA games. Her impact might be huge in the US, but around the world she is not even remotely comparable to NBA stars. Also factor in that most of the world knows who Jokic, Giannis, Curry and other NBA stars are because they watch the Olympics/BB World Cup/Euros, whereas women basketball is non-existent worldwide

She might be, seems like it, but I'll say that my casual basketball observing family members and friends who are Canadian know about the young NBA stars such as SGA, Haliburton, etc and don't know much about Clark and have never watched a game involving her, or even caught highlights.

Very anecdotal, so I don't know what that means or projects to, but maybe her brand is more in the US than even North America wide or worldwide, while the NBA guys are bigger on a larger scale.

My guess is she doesn’t post much on Instagram, and she doesn’t care about grooming her presence on social media?

Sure can see that's likely the case globally but here in the US she's definitely more well known than any current young NBA player.

We had a big family/friend gathering at Christmas and every single person at the table knew of CC. That wasn't the case with the likes of SGA and the other young NBA stars.

If angel reese wasn't as good looking as she is she would be nowhere near as popular or heavily marketed by the media. For a 'star' skillwise is very very pedestrian.

Caitlin clark otoh skillwise gap between her and other female pro hoopers is like comparing steph curry and a regular high school varsity player. She's a transcendent talent for sure.

Yep.

As much as I credit Clark for carrying a trash league and also being a bigger deal than anyone not named Bron/Curry. The elephant in the room is she's white. How much hype does it account for though? A portion of it? Half of it? All of it? I can't answer that. But let's not ignore the elephant. Either way, she's still a bigger deal than your teams favorite player. Not mines tho. She ain't bigger than LeGoat.

Again, there is a way to prop up Clark without making ridiculous statements about other players. Paige Bueckers is extremely talented and skilled all around and certainly not a varsity high school player. A'ja Wilson averaged 27 points last year and won MVP. She is not a varsity high school player.

Clark is amazing, but there are other great WNBA players.

The worst by far is Reese. So much talk for a wnba version of Drummond. :nonono:

Nah, Drummond can make a layup and was a semi efficient scorer.

Maybe, she's more Rodman with less defensive ability (Moses Malone with no scoring ability?).

Either way, Clark is so far beyond Angel she shouldn't even be associated with her anymore.

SGA has 4 million followers on IG and hes on the verge of winning the championship. Thats more than Clark.

Edwards has 5 million.

Luka has 10 million and is on the Lakers now.

This isn't even close.
