You're usually suppose to get 2 "free" points from FTs though.

Ben, Embiid, Fultz, Dario, JJ, Roco all seem more then happy to sacrifice their numbers for team wins and that is the chemistry I do not want destroyed by "me first" superstar...

With everything you have going into the future, I'd be wary of GM Lebron coming in and forcing shortsighted moves that better fit his timeline. I actually think given the skillsets on your roster, you'd be better off with someone like Kawhi (provided his injury checks out), who will also be slightly cheaper.

This exactly.

Should it be higher? Sure, but doesn’t change the fact. It was implied to not be efficient offense. Well, a 112 ORtg is.

It's getting hard to take sixers fans seriously when they're so blinded by their hero worship of Simmons that they try to argue that 56% free throw shooting is in any way good.
It's ok, you can admit that it sucks. It doesn't mean Simmons sucks. I don't think anyone would say that Shaq sucked and he couldnt shoot free throws either. It's honestly embarrassing that anyone would even try to argue this point.

This isn't confusing. 56% free throw shooting isn't good relative to others, but unless he's shooting even worse than that, then it's still an efficient means of offense. Simple math... Which I already explained.

Hack-a-Shaq worked because he often times shot below 56%, even below 50%, which less than a point per possession is not good. It's a fine, easily established line.

Clearly. That would explain why 90% of the posts in here are sixers fans trying desperately to convince everyone else that Simmons is the ROY. Because you guys don't care.

But keep trying to promote the pros of 56% free throw shooting.

Man this debate is getting into the kindergarten "my dad is stronger then your dad" debate. And for a ROTY award that means jack squat. I bet both Simmons and Mitchell would give it up for a chance at the championship.

They are both different players asked to do different things from different teams. The fact we are still debating means these two players are really good with high potential. They both are still rookies and have holes in their games. I have deep respect for both and fans of both should be excited that they have that given player on their team. But I've seen many solid players have great rookie years to stop working and pushing to get better. I hope Mitchell does not receive this award and drives himself to become a better player because of missing out on this individual achievement. Simmons has had a hell of season, give him the award. Hopefully we can see the two teams match in the playoffs if not for more then just change of scenery and huge debate storyline.

What a great rookie class though!

I hope both Mitchell and Simmons become the faces of the league in the future, or near future. The Jazz vs. Sixers finals would be lit as ****.

Yeah why are 90% of the posts in a thread about the rookie of the year about the rookie of the year? Weird.

Don't mean to be insulting but it should be much more embarrassing to not get a simple pt that's been explained several times. No one said that Simmons is good at FT shooting--he's obviously not--but FTs are a high efficiency way of scoring, so even shooting a weak 56% on them is a good option for an offensive possession. Hence the insult that he's killing your offense by drawing fouls and shooting 56% from the line doesn't land; that's almost the exact same efficiency as Paul George, Brad Beal, Derozan, Oladipo, etc so, unless you think those guys kill their teams' offenses every time they shoot, you're making a foolish point.

Not to keep the he said/she said going but this is purely about people trying to magnify Simmons' weaknesses without thinking through what they're claiming.

Forgive me for interrupting this fascinating discussion about Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell, but Kobi "Bryant" Simmons just had an efficient 20 points and 7 assists as the Grizzlies won against the Pistons. He also clearly established himself as the superior Simmons in the ROY race.

In other news, Malik Monk continued his string of good games as everyone wonders why the Hornets didn't give him minutes earlier in the season. Jayson Tatum went for 19 points, John Collins had his usual double-digit scoring performance, and Semi Ojeleye hit THREE 3pointers in a narrow loss to the Hawks. Dennis Smith and Max Kleber had a double doubles for the Mavs. Josh Hart has 15 points and a ****ing great block on Donovan Mitchell where he sent Michell's **** back in his face. Luke Kennard has an efficient 18 in a losing effort for the Pistons. Dillon Brooks had a near triple-double (22-8-8) in a game where he was overshadowed by the Kobi.

I just wanted to remind people that there are, in fact, more than 2 rookies in this year's draft class.

They should just give Ben the ROY trophy from last year and Mitchell the ROY trophy from this year.

With a playoff berth on the line today, Donovan Mitchell responded with this line:

28 points (9 of 18 and 3 of 7)
9 rebounds
8 assists
1 steal
1 blocked shot

We LOVE this guy in Utah!

Would I take Philly's 2nd year player? Absolutely. He's good too!

28 9 and 8 from Mitchell. Good grief.

Simmons will deservedly win ROTY, but I consider Mitchell the slightly better prospect. He's going to be a ridiculous scorer in his prime.
