His statistics are impressive. I realize this is only a one game sample size, but when the Bulls played the Heat, Whiteside went for 20/20 and despite that, seemed to make absolutely no impact on the game and was outplayed clearly by Robin Lopez who *only* went for like 16/9 or something.

On the flip side, I've seen games the last two years against the Bulls where Whiteside's presence was absolutely dominant and game changing, so it might not mean anything.

In before the people saying his stats don't translate.

Try having Nik Vucevic as your starting center for four years. I would take even empty defensive stats at this point.

He's amazing. Can single handedly shut down the paint when he locks in.

Love that guy.

Still wish Dallas had found a way to convince him to join Barnes in Dallas, but I'm happy to see him doing well and living up to his contract

Vuc is the new king of empty stats since Love left Minny. Whiteside is balling, but his supporting cast is a joke.

Heat may have to sit this guy the final 15 games of the year to ensure the tank.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

I wish Whiteside chose Rip City this past off season when he signed a contract.

He's exactly what the Blazers need to become a contender.

I'm Mr. Whiteside and Dame Nasty would've destroyed the league.

He's a great player but he needs a lot more help in Miami. Not sure you can win with him as your best player.

What do you think of the new NBA and RS?

Post#314 » by naabzor » Sat Nov 19, 2016 6:44 pm

I was watching lately around the league what players have great stats... As soon as i saw ppg leaders I was like wow wtf is happening there are something like 30 players that are averaging over 20 points per game how is this happening? I'm not a stats guy so I don't really know if in the past something like this ever happened. If you look at the top of the list you have TEN players averaging 27 points a game or more (kemba is tenth at 26.5) I mean is this normal? It seems like so many players are putting up monster stats because one of this three reasons:

- They play for a stacked team
- They are the only star on a crappy team leading to super high usage
- Defenses are total craps (and most of the time it seems this is the case)

Then we have FOURTY players (at least) shooting .400 or better from the three point lane, I mean, are this guys jogging on the courts or what. Maybe the rules are too much in favor of perimeter players I dunno but this is looking insane.

What do you think? We are leaving in an historical moment for the NBA full of hall of famers (I seriously doubt it) or is there something flawed in modern NBA?

Hes already 27 years old, turning 28 I think...He should have signed else where with a contender, but I dont think he cares about that because all he wanted was the money since he came from the bottom, literally.

Whiteside is almost looking like an in his prime Dwight Howard. Very similar skill set and production

Hard to believe this guy was waived and ignored for as long as he was. That happens in sports like baseball and football but never the NBA. He might be the best player in modern NBA history to be waived earlier in his career.

Lakers or Blazers would have been very interesting choices...

The only way I can say it is that he's a monster on D.

Agree he's not as good as prime Howard. Disagree that he's not better than current Howard although he is having a bounce back season thus far. Howard has had 4 down seasons in a row since his prime.
