At the end of the day, other stars aren't flocking to play with Lebron.
You’ve been blaming Magic for a majority of the mess all year; him and LeBron. You’re a piece of work, bro. Who are you trying to kid?

I think it's because he can't bring himself to fire someone. He's always been the nice guy. He probably never has had to fire someone in a professional setting. Firing someone is not an easy thing to do. With him knowing how much Jeanie likes Luke, it makes it tougher.
Given the timing that Luke would probably need to go tonight, he probably just couldn't do it...and knew if he couldn't do something he was planning to do, he should step down.
I can’t see Magic not being able to pull the trigger if he legit felt Walton wasn’t the guy. It’s not like Lebron was fighting for Walton to stay and at this point Luke probably wants to leave.
Magic also wouldn’t of ate him out early in the season if Luke was his guy. Nothing points to them having any type of connection other than Jeanie liking both
I'm not saying he wouldn't have thought it was the right move. I'm just saying it is hard to go tell someone else they are fired (barring them just blatantly asking for it). It's one of the least enjoyable things I've ever had to do so I can imagine a fun loving guy like Magic who everyone loves and he likes to be that guy couldn't just actually do it.
he could've just had Rob do it?

Magic was the selling point for their free agency pitches. Now dude peaced out, and left them with their wangs in their hands. lol
Pretty sure the pitch is and always was LeBron. Not really sure what Magic had to do with it beyond being a sales rep.

And from all reports Rob is a A-Hole so he might of enjoyed doing it. One of the perks of having a GM they are suppose to do the heavy lifting

Doesn't tell Buss beforehand, acts like everything's fine with Pelinka and LeBron during their visit then throws a press conference and quits

For those of you saying Jerry West won’t consider the Lakers..don’t know how much love he has for the team. But I still don’t think he comes.
He admitted that part of his heart issues with the Lakers were a result of him getting too stressed out over the team

well we saw leaks about a month back of bron being the one who wanted rondo and lance, bron being the one pushing for ad, magic wanting to shop lebron at the deadline etc.
seems like magic was in damage control before this and doesn't want the blame
i applaud him for not just shutting up and taking it if he doesn't want to do it as well.
I'd applaud him for actually running the team if that were all true. But he didn't do it, and after rolling over, if this is all true, he's just quitting before he gets called out even more in a bad way. He totally shut up and took it for a full season, and then humiliated himself on the way out.

If that were true, then he needs to quit face to face. He says Jeanie is like a sister, but if I were that close to someone and I was quiting, I wouldn't humiliate the franchise on the way out. If you want to play that card then you need to do the hard thing and quit in person.
I agree he should have...that's why I find it ironic that he also said in there that he wants to preserve his relationship with her (while he was quitting behind her back). Jeannie probably partly loves Magic because her dad was the owner and when Magic played for him in the 80s..in his 20s, she was a couple years younger than him and he was the one of the biggest superstars on the planet.

Magic was suppose to be the face of stability with Lebron. Who’s now the middle man filter between Lebron, the organization and the other players? Going into free agency unknowns at every position in the front office and a older Lebron and injured young players

A boss is an idiot for believing in her employees? You’re a moron.
Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about . To say she has faith in him and to see him step down means she never fully spoke with him about his own commitment did she ?
Stay in school
Clearly you’ve never worked a real job or held an executive role in a company. Stay being a peasant.

No I haven't. I'm one of the people who said he's done a decent job multiple times. I don't even think the Lakers are a mess, the plan was to sign a max player this offseason, and just get 1-yer vets. I like the Laker youngsters, and their draft picks.

Not saying Magic did good or inspired confidence, but he’s taking responsibility for getting the guys LeBron wanted.
That’s the job as with any other superstar. The GM comes up with a plan and runs it by their superstar.
This formula was Magic’s though. Make no mistake about it. He’s been on record saying that after having really honed in on the playoffs last year, he figured the formula wasn’t to beat GS with their gameplan of shoot, shoot, shoot, but to attack them with playmakers and defenders, hence the signings.
I find it hard to believe this would have been LeBron’s blueprint, seeing how he thrives over drive-and-kick and does it better than anyone in history.

With no freakin repercussions. I wish we all can do this in our respective jobs.

According to your logic, Tim Duncan doesn't deserve any respect.

Yeah - you really got to wonder how LeBron feels about it all. Part of me wonders if he’s going to demand a trade or some crap like that. Especially if they try to bring in someone like Phil.

Afraid of firing people? Incoherent ramblings? Wants everyone to love him? Magic is the Michael Scott of the NBA.
