I mean, lets be honest— there are 13 teams that are tiers above the rest of the league. That means, right off the bat, 9 teams are joining the bubble with nothing to play for.

Of the top 13 teams, how many realistically have a chance at the title even if its remote? I’ve got maybe 4 in the East and maybe 4 in the West.

Just shrink the pool. Make the play in for seeds 3 and 4 and only amongst the top 6 in the East and top 7 in the West. Itll shrink the amount of people and the time in the bubble.

I get players not wanting to play, but with the amount of precautions the NBA is taking, if youre not willing to play in the bubble cause of safety concerns, then you might as well just say you're not willing to play till theres a vaccine.

Needed the TV money and only way to do so is to meet the minimum number of games (whatever that may be).

There's growing concern re NBA's bubble plan. Players want more freedom of movement while in Orlando. One agent estimates that 2/3 of the top 40 would refuse to play under the proposed restrictions. Per Howard Beck

Have you even looked at this thread? It seems there are a lot of precautions that the NBA is not taking, at least not yet. Disney employees going in and out without even being tested? That would give anyone pause.

You mean right now? Theyre going in and out now? Or that theyre gonna be going in and out when training camp starts and the players arrive? I havent read the thread (16 pages), but i took the 'bubble' phrasing on the nose.

If they’re content with not getting paid and for having even bigger implications for pay in the future, then sure why not?

Florida has reported 1,902 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, a record high for a single day since the beginning of the pandemic.

It's just that it's not an equal risk for all players and staff, and these details are being presented to the NBA now so as to make sure everyone feels safe and the risk is mitigated as much as it can be. Right now, workers going in and out of the bubble without being tested, for example, is a bad idea.

This doesn't mean much but it's kind of silly marketing to call this a bubble. Bubbles are tenuous, they pop, it takes no effort to create one, and you lose control of it once it's created. Calling it a campus or something would've been more inspiring. I feel like you're just asking for negative puns when you call this a bubble.

Florida infection rates are on the rise, Disney employees are going to be in contact with a LOT of people come mid July.

This has, unfortunately, disaster written all over it. One image of an asthmatic player on a ventilator or the death of anyone in the bubble and the NBA is screwed.
Yeah and coronavirus will be here forever now. Maybe we should only have car racing, tennis, and golf, from now on.

From what I’ve read, it’s more about the conditions of playing in Disney that makes players skeptical. They don’t want to stay in a hotel and not be able to leave. But of course that’s the safest option so it’s pick or choose.

Also, Malcolm Brogdon said players he’s spoken to are hesitating due to the racial tension in the country but his counterpoint was the NBA will have all the cameras and spotlight on them to speak out on it

i stand corrected then. Thats ridiculous. Why even call it a bubble if people are freely moving in and out

I get it. But i also get members of the Suns or the Spurs preferring to not be in a bubble playing basketball for a month and a half

I get that too, but then it looks like if a player chooses to sit then he won't get paid. And I personally agree.
