Re: Do you consider Jordans Bulls a Super Team?
The problem with looking at the 90s Bulls as a super team is that when you look at the Durant/Curry/Thompson Warriors or the Wade/Bosh/James Heat, or even the Garnett/Allen/Pierce Celtics, the 3 top players were at minimum very high level first options who had at least *some* playoff success by themselves as the best player.
Heat:
Wade: Won a championship as the first option
James: Went to the finals and multiple ECFs as the first option
Bosh: Made a few playoffs as the first option (by far the worst record here)
Warriors:
Curry: Won a title as the first option
Durant: Went to a finals and several ECFs as the first option
Thompson/Green (depending on which one you think was more important): Won a title as the second option
Celtics:
Garnett: Went to an ECF as the first option despite generally awful teams around him
Allen: Went to a conference finals and a semis in a loaded West
Pierce: Went to an ECF and several playoff berths as the first option
Pippen seems to be more in the KG/Allen/Thompson/Bosh realm of player than the James/Wade/Curry/Durant realm of player. As for Rodman? One of the greatest rebounders ever, but he was truly a one-way player, even accounting for his OREB and screens. Like Draymond, he's a super role player, but if a super role player is your 3rd guy, I have trouble calling that a super team unless you have a 4th guy that's just as good (like Thompson). And while Kukoc was good, he wasn't Klay good back then.

If people consider Jordan/Pippen/Grant or Jordan/Pippen/Rodman to be a superteam, then do they consider Shaq/Penny/Grant or Thomas/Dumars/Rodman to be a superteam?

I don’t think Rodman joining the 2nd 3-peat makes them a super team.
KG/Allen/Pierce was when the "superteam" moniker began. With LeBron/Wade/Bosh, there was actually some doubt because people questioned whether Bosh was that good
Lmao who questioned whether Bosh was that good??? What in the world lol
Great point MavsDirk. People trying to act like Bosh wasnt an MVP type player back then. The Beatles had THREE MVP type players (LeBron, Wade, Bosh).
Honestly, Bosh is probably a better player than LeBron. He just didn't get a chance to play with MJ.
Wade > Bosh > Pippen >>>> Rodman/Horace
And the think is, MJ molded those players (Scottie and Horace) from a soft clay into refined porcelain. They're lucky they got to play against MJ in practice. LeBron didn't mold Bosh or Wade.

As I said, you guys spend considerable time running down Jordan’s opponents, exalting his team-mates, running down LeBron’s team mates and exalting his opponents.
Yes good to great teams were build around Jordan which were very successful once he embraced being more of a team player. Your point is ?.

The idea of the first 3-peat team being a superteam is silly.
Jordan averaged 40ppg in the finals lol, and they were close games that went to a game 6.

Are we really going to underplay Pippen this much as to push a comparison between the 01 Sixers and 96 Bulls?
Let's also pretend that Iverson and MJ are even close to the same tier of player.
I don't care for the nonsense of labelling 'superteams', but it was pretty clear that the Bulls were the best teams in the years they won. Plenty of that is to do with MJ being the best player in the league, but they also had a very very strong team relative to the competition they were facing.
I get people like the diminish the Bulls teams to prop up MJ, but it can be true that the Bulls were the best team and MJ is a GOAT level player without having to take away from either.
My only point is that the '01 Sixers met his personal criteria for a super team and he didn't even realize it. All I did was call him out on it.
Your missing Iverson playing along another top 5 MVP candidate, and he didn’t…

Toni Kukoc is now crazy underrated, did nobody else see Phil using him as #1 option in the playoffs for a ecf run the year MJ was retired???
Klay is better but Kukoc isnt like way worse than Klay either. And Bulls in prime Kukoc > old Heatles Ray Allen.
Honestly if Kukoc pkayed today a lot of you would be his stans.

The Bulls didn’t make the ECF when Jordan retired, and Kukoc averaged 9.3 ppg in those playoffs.

Chris Bosh was selected to the nba all star team
11 of the 13 years he played in the nba and according to lebron james fans the Heatles werent a superteam because Bosh wasnt great.

They scored the same number of points cumulatively with Jordan outscoring every Sun by at least 13 PPG.

The MJ hater bridge trying to act like prime Chris Bosh wasn't an MVP player. And are we forgetting a certain 10x all-star, hall of famer named Ray Allen? The previous GOAT 3 point shooter? And also a multiple time all-star named Rashard Lewis. Why no mention of them?

Why does the last 30 games of the season disregard the first 50? He averaged 19, 6 and 6 for the season and finished second in DPOY. Who on the Sixers was an amalgamation of that?

“super teams” are when stars collude to play with each other via FA or force trade to certain teams.
That's not what a superteam is........

There’s been some debate about that in this thread.
Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor each got their own movie, and then teamed up for the “Avengers” superteam. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman each got their own movie, and then teamed up for the “Justice League” super team. The Fantastic 4 never each had individual movies, so they don’t really count as a super team.
I’ve never heard Cousy/Havlicek/Russell, or Bird/McHale/Parish, or Magic/Worthy/Kareem, or Duncan/Parker/Ginobili called a superteam. It’s when stars team up after they were each the star of their own team to form a super team, like KG, Pierce, and Ray Allen.
