this doesnt make sense to me for Orlando to do this. It makes their team better, however if there is any team in the league that doesnt need gortat its the magic. Im really worried they trade him for a good player. His contract is just awful though, so I have no idea why the magic resigned him unless
1. They already have a trade in the works
or
2. They think he has lots of potential and think they can sell high on him in the future (I dont really see him living up to this contract though)

Do the magic have an absolutely loaded owner? They have some huge contracts on that team?

I think I read that the Magic have the 3rd richest owner in the NBA or something. And I think this signing puts them as the highest spending team in the NBA.

Gortat + the huge TPE will be incredibly enticing to any team that wants to shed salary.

Definitely. Look for the Magic to add a VERY nice player or two after Dec. 15th. The Magic respect Marcin and I believe they did this because they already have a trade in mind.

The Magic must have another move up their sleeves as a follow up. I can't see them paying 16 Million (8 salary + 8 lux tax) a year for a player who plays 10 minutes a game.
