Kevin Garnett didn't record 30/15 until his 287th game (Game 1, 1999)

That's hard to believe at first read. However, Garnett didn't become a high level rebounder right away so it makes sense. Towns is ahead of schedule in my book.

It was actually the other way around. He was never a high-volume scorer. Up to that point, he had just five career 30-point games, but 19 games with 15 rebounds. Just never could put the two together. Had four 25/15s before his first 30/15 (Towns had three 25/15s before last night's 30/15 btw).

Even in his MVP season, he only scored 30 points in a game 12 times, but five of those he paired with 15 rebounds and 10 times paired with at least 13 boards.

Oh wow. That makes sense now that I think about it. He was never a volume scorer compared to some of his contemporaries. I'm still surprised that he was grabbing so many boards so early. Thanks for the correction.

Just saw that Jahlil is 77% in the restricted area, 64% from 3-10, and 45% from 10-16 with Ish Smith on the court. Those numbers are unreal but what really unreal are his numbers with both Nerlens and Ish on the floor. He's 72% at rim, 79% from 3-10, 46% from 10-16.

That's why I loved him at Duke his touch in the paint is unreal. Overall he's 67% at rim, 54% from 3-10, and 42% from 10-16 since they traded for Ish and 67% at rim, 46% from 3-10, and 36% from 10-16 on the season.

Very impressive rookie season for Towns so far. In 30 minutes a game as well.

Here's how he compares to Tim Duncan in his rookie year. Striking similarities. The biggest gaps are in 3 point shooting, as Duncan wasn't even an option from there, and in defensive rating (Duncan played with Admiral).

Crazy how similar those per36 numbers are.

His minutes are going up, too. Last sixteen games since Garnett went down, he's averaged 22/12 in 35 mpg. That includes 7 25+ pt games, 3 30+ pt games, 4 15+ reb games.

If he keeps that pace for the final 23 games, he'll end the season with averages of 18.8/10.7 in 31.9 mpg

Where's his birth certificate?

My super early prediction for next season has KAT at 22/12 for the season but maybe I need to raise my expectations a little.

I'm not sure he isn't the best center in the league now.

Trevor Booker was out because of a funeral and Trey Lyles tonight had 18 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block, 1 assist in only 24 minutes. At one point Lyles scored 12 points in a row for Utah.

We all do. Losing top notch talent to injury is a pity.

D'Angelo Russell is going to be very very good. He is definitely pang the eye test. Has a post game, gets to the rim, and can create off the dribble. Fwiw, his pocket passing is ridiculous for a rookie.

Takes a while for most SG to get good IMO.
