The Heat's point differential indicates they are playoff bound. Just had some tough teams and bad luck lately.

Hard to believe this guy was waived and ignored for as long as he was. That happens in sports like baseball and football but never the NBA. He might be the best player in modern NBA history to be waived earlier in his career.

prime howard? he isn't close to as good as current howard right now.

He's definitely better than current Howard, that's not a debate. Even outplayed him in their match-up.

I don't blame him for taking the money because he was playing on like $900k/yr contract before that.

He deserves every penny he got and more.

I think we're 12 games into the season and the sample size is incredibly small.

I guess to heat fans its not a debate. To any sane, rational individual d12 has had the better year and is on a better team atm.

I'm a fan of neither team and I think whiteside has clearly been better than Howard both last season and this season. Although it does look closer this season.

Yes Howard plays on a better team but I'm not sure how that opens and closes the debate. Is Bazemore also better than Kwaii Leonard because the Hawks are ahead in the Spurs in the standings? Is that how that works?

And to use a hyperbole like all the 'sane, rational' fans know that Howard has been better makes it look like you're the biased one. Care to provide a better supporting argument than Hawks are ahead in the standings?

I did exaggerate a bit, but I just think howard impacts the game defensively at a different level than whiteside. espn, vorp, bpm, ws/48 agree with me. Whiteside is more on the drummond tier, imo neither are as good as howard right now.

Try having Nik Vucevic as your starting center for four years. I would take even empty defensive stats at this point.

Vuc is the new king of empty stats since Love left Minny. Whiteside is balling, but his supporting cast is a joke.

Kevin Love's statistics absolutely were not empty, how awful we have been without him should serve as proof of that.

And that's we he's a piece, all us Heat fans know we won't win anything with him as our best player.

A key fact that every Kevin Love critic seems to overlook.

He's exactly what the Blazers need to become a contender.

The guy is a locker room cancer, I wouldn't wish that on a team like Portland. The heat lost 3 stars within a year and a half of him joining the team, probably not entirely coincidence.

3 stars? The only star who left in free agency was D Wade and that seemed to have more to do with Riley than Whiteside. But even if we were to count Wade who are the other 2 you are referencing?

LeBron left before they got Hassan, and they lost Bosh due to blood clots. You surely can't be blaming Whiteside for an illness cutting Bosh's* career short, can you?

* Edit: Misspelled Bosh

Bosh has health issues that may jeopardize his life. Damm that Whiteside guy!

We should have a thread where we nominate the worst or most far fetched post of the week. That one is the front-runner right now.

I'd love to have seen the weak side shot blocking combination of James and Whiteside.

$900K a year. What a low amount to be paid to play basketball. How did he survive?

Just take one look at the guy, not hard to imagine what he's capable of.

$900000 is a lot to me, but I also don't have the skills to play with some of the best basketball players in the world.

That's what YOU think I disagree, you've posted advanced stats that favor Howard, there are advanced stats that favor Whiteside, not to mention Hassan OUTPLAYED Dwight in their recent match up. I'm sure if we did a poll on who teams would rather have on their team at this very moment I think Whiteside would win the polls. I mean how can Dwight impact defensive on another tier when heat have a top 3 defensive've squad? Who's the true anchor, Dion Waiters? Lol
