Are they treating this moment like it's the Lakers championship?
Wouldn't it make sense to do all this after the game?
They did the same thing for Kareem when he moved into first place.
It's what they do with the toughest NBA records. I can imagine them doing the same when someone breaks Wilts 100 points in one game record.
Kareem didn’t get the career highlight montage and the commissioner’s blessing.

Props to Kareem for being classy. Didn’t expect anything less. Will LeBron act the same when Cam Thomas breaks the record?

I hope that, before he retires from NBA, he gets to play one season with his buddy Chris Paul, Lakers or somewhere else. That pairing is all that's left.
One more dream left to me means reaching 40k points and owning it as the only player to achieve it.

This crowd is silent now lol
Props to LeBron. His longevity and production for so long is more impressive than any record(s) he breaks. Dude looks like he could be an all star into his 40s.

I read this wrong and thought it was a massive thread predicting the Kings will win the title.

Re: 0 the countdown the King takes the throne
Great achievement. Him achieving this feat by breaking history is not the differentiator of GOAT though. Getting the individual accolade just sets him apart as having the most points in his career from everyone else who played the game which in itself is impressive, but that alone doesn't make him the GOAT. You either already had him as the GOAT or you didn't.

Re: 0 the countdown the King takes the throne
I can remember when I first heard who LeBron was. I was getting ready to go into my freshmen year of high school, and didn't really know much about him. But my friends knew about him, and they were all talking about what life would be like if Cleveland was able to get him. I didn't think much about it at the time, because I honestly didn't know what to expect. It wasn't until I witnessed his first NBA game that I began to wonder what he could have been. Being old enough to understand that we had something truly special in the making at the time was both a blessing and a curse. It made it all the more exciting when he was becoming the player we all hoped he would be. It made it all the more disappointing when he was coming up short time and time again. It made it all the more heartbreaking when he ended up leaving to go to Miami. It made it all the more satisfying when he returned.
In a lot of ways, LeBron has been the pride of Cleveland sports for better or for worse. We've had Cy Young (who was an ohio native born and raised and spent half of his career with a Cleveland team). We've had Jim Brown (still considered by many to be the greatest running back in the history of the NFL). But in my lifetime, there just wasn't much to be excited about it as a Cleveland sports fan. The 90s Indians were the only thing I ever had going for me, and when the 2000s hit, it was a pretty bad stretch to be a Cleveland fan.
LeBron James changed all of that.
I never would have imagined that LeBron would turn out the player that he would be. Even with the excitement and hype that followed, no one could have imagined this. The pass first unselfish small forward out of high school ends up being the one to break the all time scoring record isn't something I would have felt comfortable putting a bet on at the time. But tonight, he did it.
I may not consider LeBron to be the GOAT. I may not like a lot of the things that he does. I may criticize him for a lot of the decisions he makes, the way he acts and how he perceives the game of basketball as a whole. But I'll never deny the impact he's had on me as a fan, and what he has done for Cleveland as a whole. He will always be remembered by both me and many others as the Akron native born and raised who became a legend in the sport of basketball and made Cleveland a city of champions again.
Tonight is just another moment that I've been fortunate to witness. But it's made me really think back and greatly appreciate who he is and what he has done.
LeBron, you'll always be a Cleveland guy in my eyes. And you'd done Cleveland proud.

outstanding achievement for Lebron..
but I'd rather that they won the game.. a bit of a downer that the team played lifeless basketball.

Don't they usually interview a player from the winning team?

Don't you think it probably means playing with his kid(s)?
