I’ll say this. There is enough elite talent where I wouldn’t be shocked if they play elite enough all year long to win it.

Curry: obviously I don’t think he will continue to have a 75 TS% all year long. But can he be the scoring champ and have 65+% TS% and GS wins 50+ games. Ya I can see it.

Tatum: Be a scoring champ and also make All Defense team while playing on the team with the best record. Ya I can see it.

Luka: scoring champ and 30ppg triple double on a 50 win team. Ya I can see it.

These are all scenarios I can see happening. I just have Jokic as the heavy favorite because Jokic has been so damn consistent for 3 straight years and now starting his 4th. I can pretty much pencil down Jokic’s season. Jokic’s middle ground is essentially freakish MVP level.

Everyone else, there are just more questions. Curry has done it before, but he’s older and can he do it again at this age and can he and that team stay healthy enough to have a high seed. Tatum makes small incremental improvements each year, can he do it one more time. Luka, can this Dallas team work and win 50 games and can he pull off a 30 point triple double while being efficient.

There are questions with everyone, just not with Jokic haha. You just know Jokic is going to set a ridiculously high bar for MVP.

Giannis was expected to take a big hit due to the presence of Dame but thus far it's been bigger than I expected

last night he only took 10 FGA and for the season has taken about 15 FGA, his assists are also way down with the ball more in Dame's hands

Jokic should be the odds-on favorite as his main perennial competition is basically out of the race :)

1. Doncic - very easy to see him averaging over 30 ppg and nearly 10 assists with the mavs having a decent record. That's enough right there to give him it.
2. Curry - I think the media would love to give him it a 3rd time but he will need to stay healthy and mostly in form, which there is a chance won't happen.
3. Jokic - will have an MPV season, will have have the team record, but won't go so hard as to make him unassailable. He sets the bar but I think people would still like to reward the other two more in a tie breaker.
4. Tatum - I think he gets lost on the Celtics with all the options they have but a phenomenal record, which the celtics could have, might make that not matter as he is still their clear best player. honestly, I'm confident about the other 3 being in that order but Tatum is the one the I can't decide on, sometimes I talk myself into thinking he's the favourite.
5. Giannis - he's started slow but might turn it on after him and Dame have figured it out a bit.
6. I don't see Embiid with any possibility of winning after his post-season disaster, he would need a ridiculous season for voters to over look that. He could have that ridiculous season, but anyone playing with MVP-ish numbers goes in ahead of him.

I feel like Doncic will win it despite Jokic clearly being the better player.

I think last night was a prime example - Luka had 34/10/8 yet anyone watching that game would fully agree Jokic was the best player on the court and it wasn’t even close.

Whoever needs their mvp better get it in these next few seasons because I think by season 4/5 Wemby might be the MVP favorite. If all goes well he could get 4-5 MVPs.

You're comparing two players who play in two totally different positions.
Not saying Joker is not amazing as he obviously is but to look good among the centers in NBA is not the same as looking good among the point guards, point guard which is by far the most challenging position in NBA (and also arguably the most important).

Doncic also shot 11-24 compared to 14-16 from Jokic and he also had 9 (!) turnovers, so obviously no1 watching the game thought he had the better game of the two, as obviously - he didn't :)

What makes point guard the most challenging? Btw Jokic was the best player on the court, regardless of position, last night.

Jokic is a point guard in a centers body. He is the point guard for his team literally every night.

Very weird to argue about positions in this day and age with all the skilled players in every position.

I don't see him having a solid post game to win it as a big... as smooth as he, he is still not a KD handling the ball... so he has a long way to go

Two near triple doubles on absolutely efficient percentages two games in a row. Could have easily coasted tonight, or even taken the game off, and no one would have blamed him. But that's not him. I mean, he's clearly the MVP for the past four years but once again everyone else will try to give all other players the benefit until Joker is the last man standing. He almost NEVER has less than an amazing game.

Curry will have to be perfect and the Mavs will have to win 50+ games for the others to have a chance. I don't see either happening.

Tatum over all of them. Celtics have a pretty good chance of beating the wins record this season

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

The Warriors 73 win season? Ummmm no. They are a ~60 win team but it would take an insane amount of luck to get to 73+ wins

The Celtics have a 1.000 winning percentage after 5 games. I'd be shocked if they won anything less than 82 games.

Another MVP performance for Joker.

Such a shame he's already out of the race.

Pop in 2.5 blocks per game for Embiid.

Right now the MVP list looks like:

Luka
Embiid
Tatum
Record will 100% come into play.

Jokic is out of it at this point.

Buckle up, here we go again....
