Gms and scouts should be fired for letting edey fall to 9. The nba is in a good place with monsters like Wemby and Edey leading the way.

I still wonder how long he'll be able to stay on the court in today's NBA.

Edey can do so many things at a good level, and on offense he is going to be great, I just worry how easily exploitable he'll be when a team plays 5 out against him. I know he's faced it to a degree before, but facing NBA level talent on the perimeter is going to be a different story.

Edey is far better than Kessler, but we kinda saw this happen with him. He had a great rookie season, then teams kinda figured out a way to exploit his defense, and now he doesn't see the court a ton.

Difference is Edey's offensive skills may keep him valuable even if teams exploit that defensively, but its going to be interesting to see what happens when he's playing on the perimeter defensively on near every possession.

I think it's Kessler's weak screening and aversion to contact when finishing because of his subpar free-throw shooting that has him out of favor with coach Ryan Hardy. We sometimes get too focused on defensive concerns and not enough on the offensive ones, particularly for the rim-running, rim-protecting, play-finishing centers.

IMO, a center that's a weak finisher in the paint and especially at the rim hurts you just as much as a weak defender of the paint and rim. Steven Adams shot 63% FG at the rim (0-3 feet) and had a 50.7% free-throw rate and shot 47.3% FT. Zach projects to be a 75-80% FG at the rim guy and 70-75% FT with most likely a comfortably higher free-throw rate than Adams.

That's a significant value-add on offense that Zach provides and it sets up the defense for success. Because as Joe Mazzulla inferred in the NBA Finals, the best, first line of defense is a strong half-court offense.

Is there a big gap between Stephon Castle and Jared McCain?

Not necessary saying anything, but reminder that Canada cut him very very fast, and Canada does not have great centers, its Trey Lyles, Khem Birch and Dwight Powell. Their best overall big is easily Olynyk. Edey was one of the first cuts that team made this summer.

This is not true. Edey withdrew so that he could incorporate himself in the Grizz system of play as a rookie. He and his team felt it was more important to focus on his professional career. He was slated to make the Canadian team.

In the long run, it's probably better for him that he did it this way, but his absence will be felt for Canada this Olympics.

People gotta stop glazing Edey after one summer league game. Kevin Knox averaged 21 & 6 in his first summer league. Relax, lets wait for him to play a regular season game

Oh, ok, sorry, I thought he was cut. It was a bit strange that he supposed to be here at all, because most upcoming rookies do miss FIBA tournaments, so yeah, now it makes sense. He made the team last year, but he appeared on court only couple of times.

This. The test will come in the regular season when teams put 5 near 40% three point shooters on the court. His footspeed may be exposed.

He looked VERY light on his feet the other night...like I was watching a different player from college. I was honestly shocked at how mobile he looked.

I'm really curious what training he's done bc this is a different player. He also appears to have lost maybe 20 or so lbs

Very noticeable how much leaner he is now. He doesn't move around like he's wearing a 50lb weight vest anymore. He's not the same player as Wemby but for his size and style, he's a similar type of generational athlete.

Will any of the 40% three point shooters be able to stop Edey? If the teams are trading possessions and Edey's shooting 60%, it's a wash.

Then there's the higher likelihood of and-ones, offense rebounds, opponent fouls, and set defense with Edey.

Is it even Summer league if China ain't playing?

As for Edey, I thought he looked way thinner, I think he lost quite a bit of weight. Great sign if true, show his dedication to be good, he needed weight in college and he was asked to protect himself from fouls, do not contest every shot... We might in fact see different Edey in the NBA, more suited for that league.

Lakers up early. Knecht looking good. Bronny is also there.
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

Bronny being passive again. I think that’s just who he is as a basketball player.
