Only a matter of time if they grant Giannis his wish.

Im pretty sure they will, and its gonna be because the other offers wont blow them away in comparison. The Knicks offer may be worse, but it wont be signifcantly. If they wanted a bidding contest, it shoudlve happened in the summer.

Bucks are under no obligation to work with Giannis, hes a very very rich man because of the Bucks and also he's gotten the okay on all of the crap coaching hires that happened here. Not to mention his brothers being on the team they've done him enough favors.

AD traded to the Lakers: Pelicans get #1 pick.
Luka traded to the Lakers: Mavericks get #1 pick.
Giannis traded to the Knicks: Bucks get *#$ pick.

NBA knows the game here...

Next year, Giannis will be virtually in his contract year (Player Option for 27/28 season), so he has plenty of leverage to dictate where he'll eventually land. And then, if let's say Knicks are his dream destination, other teams won't outbid them and Bucks will grant his wish. It sucks when big markets get what they want due to being big markets, but we may get another chapter of that soon.

The key is finding a 3rd team to give up picks for KAT.

Call up Charlotte we can facilitate this my friend. :D

I'm supremely excited about Giannis being traded, because he's always been one of my favorite players but i've never liked Milwaukee.

We'll see. If the Knicks' offer isn't that good, then the Bucks (if they even decide to trade him) might just do an F you deal to somewhere else. If you're getting a D+ package offer from the Knicks, who cares if you settle for a D- package somewhere else.

100%. Followed by "you guys are just conspiracy theorists" by all the NBA fans who don't want to admit they are watching WWE basketball.

Well, if they have on their table a D+ offer from the Knicks and D- package from somewhere else - he'll go to the Knicks. But we don't know what Giannis truly wants for now, he may be fine with playing alongside Wemby in San Antonio, who knows - my point was that Giannis has a leverage to dictate effectively where he'll land because regardless of how great he's as a player, his contractual situation is tricky from perspective of any team not getting a promise of guaranteed extension or stuff like that.

So it's not conspiratorial, he has basically a 1.5y contract and can say 'I'll sign an extension only with the Knicks' (or whichever team). Giannis is a wonderful asset only if he doesn't willingly hardball other teams on the market.

On 'open market', there are several teams ready to outbid the Knicks, I suppose.

Just for discussion fodder, here are some trades that work (or will work soon - Spurs would have to wait until Feb 2 to trade Fox, Rockets one is complicated due to Jabari's Smith's contract, etc)

Don't forget about the most likely trade! Jimmy & Giannis have identical salaries.

He's rich because he brought them a championship and years of "top player in the league" level play. He's not a hard guy to work with and he doesn't talk crap in the media. Even this comment, if true, sounds like a leak. So no, they don't owe him anything, but he doesn't owe them anything either. He's also not some drama queen making trade requests and blowing up the locker room. He's a class act and future HOFer.

He can also opt out in 2027 if I'm not mistaken.

If I’m the Bucks I’m taking that Rockets package.

Why in the world would Milwaukee do this?

Of the teams that actually have assets, Spurs should be front runners.

Yeah, Spurs can effortlessly outbid the Knicks with Fox, Castle, and draft picks - and Giannis looks like a guy more oriented on competing for a title, than playing for a big market, so this is interesting. Spurs can also create a more competitive team with Wemby and their depth, considering that in this scenario of Towns-Mikal trade, Knicks' depth would be laughable and they probably wouldn't have any draft picks to strengthen their team.
