There will certainly be chemistry issues. I think this trade is as much to do with Butler. I have a feeling Philly doesn’t believe they can keep him beyond the season.

Probably a better trade for the Clips. Sixers get another borderline all star making it 4 players who are either fringe or actual all stars so that looks great on paper. Clippers weren’t going to do too much this season anyway and I think they’re selling Harris at his absolute peak and getting to fully reload the chamber.

The problem for the Sixers is that this doesn’t do a lot for their depth by taking out three rotation pieces for essentially one as Boban is just a big tree and I haven’t seen much of Scott. Landry looked like a steal and I’m really not sure this moves their championship needle and they’re going to have to pay big to keep Butler and Harris.

So good for Brand for making a move but I think he tried to swing for the fences instead of getting on base. I guess time will tell but if Philly doesn’t make the East Finals then this season’s a fail.

It’s largely just circumstances with him. He isn’t a primary star level player, but as a third or fourth star he is elite. So people aren’t looking to build around him.

He also has gotten better each year and sort of crept up into being the player he is today.

The depth is a problem today, but let’s check back in a few weeks after the buyout market has played out. Wesley Mathews could be on the team at that time. Maybe Jeremy Lin. Another rotation player or two will be coming.

Tobias is a UFA, heck they can sign him back in the summer if they want but they really want Durant and Leonard.

Great move by the Clips to maximize their assets. Risky, all-in move by the Sixers but one that could really work out for them too. And I don’t think the Sixers are done adding to their depth either.

Tobias Harris is an overrated player, especially this season - but as a 4th option that is legit as hell. This is a great trade for the Sixers.

Nope, they upgraded from 4th to 3rd (maybe).

He adds value by being all star caliber player and then there is value that is added bc he is great fit for them and they are great fit for him, he add them shooting and scoring which allows Simmons to be better and they have 3 great defenders in Simmons , Butler and Embiid to cover his defensive weaknesses so they are better together than they are individually which raise their floor and their ceiling at the same time and they didn't lost any important player from their rotation. They are better than Bucks, Raptors, Celtics and Pacers and next year when Kawhi leave Toronto it would look even better and more important than it is now. Also they have much better chances now in a hypothetical matchup against GSW in Finals.

Interesting that the Sixers are going to try and resign both Harris and Butler. I wonder if they’ll offer 3 year contracts that expire along the same time that Simmon’s extension kicks in. I actually love this trade for the Sixers. The type of all in move that teams that want to win a championship make. I like the fit for Harris.

For Clippers it makes sense as well. Get some picks and now they don’t have to give their pick to Boston. However if they miss out on a superstar free agent then it’s going to be a long rebuild.

It's not.
Thing is (to me), the Sixers' timetable really starts next season, when a lot of pieces are moved (KD, Kyrie, AD, Kawhi) and they have their team set to go all-in.

This season is about meshing and hoping to make noise. But when your big 4 has an average of 25-26 years, there's really nothing that screams 'now or never'

On the contrary, they still have Zhaire Smith, Jonah Bolden, Justin Patton and let's hope Markelle Fultz that need to develop into rotational pieces. 1 more summer can help a lot.

This.

Philly may be the best place for him long-term. He also had issues doing anything in the 4th quarter outside of a handful of games.

Also with Harris and Simmons being so naturally passive I can’t see all that many ego clashes. Harris was content to let Williams or Gallo or Harrell dominate the ball

This is actually a huge blow for Boston

Clippers will not make playoffs now. That pick won't come this year

The kings will be the team to replace clippers if Lakers are fallen apart and they own kings pick

So that's interesting

Simmons is in his third year of his rookie contract now so his max would kick in in 2020-21 season. I doubt Butler or Harris would be happy with 2yr contracts...

Maybe people should realize that, if you want to compete for a championship, you need to spend.

Great trade for Sixers. I am a guy who thinks Simmons is overrated (major falw in game),but Embiid is great (not overrated) and as long as Butler and Harris are willing to play with those two in the right way it's going to be very good.

Simmons is going to have a ton of options on the break. I really like Harris. East is up for grabs, but 76ers are better now than they were yesterday and much better than the team they broke camp with.

well it sort of is now or never because it’s going to be hard to re-sign both Harris and Butler and you’ve already sacrificed so many assets for the pair and for what? A first/second rd exit? That’s a disaster.

As for the four names you mentioned - one is a bust and the other 3 are totally unproven.
