But he's never too injured to feast on bottom of the barrel squads like Detroit, Washington, and Charlotte. If he's always getting "injured" in the playoffs, why not load manage and take nights off against the bad teams to keep healthy for the playoff runs?

That is correct. He didn’t get his orbital fractures, torn thumb ligament, strained knee ligament, torn meniscus, etc. at the beginning of a season (not counting two years of a fractured navicular starting out) or even during the middle of a season against bad teams. Only at playoff time. Obviously, he plans it this way to avoid competition.
