They cut their franchise legend in his final season because he had the audacity to actually care about winning and tried to hold people accountable? Absolutely shameful tbh. They knew who CP3 was before signing him - the entire league does, he's been around for two friggin decades. The optics look very bad. That organization is a complete dumpster fire and they're about to land Dybansta for the Thunder. What a disgrace
You don't get to "hold people accountable" when you're an end-of-bench scrub. That sh*t only flies when you're a top tier player.
At the end of the day, he was bossing around the other players and undermining the coaches, while not contributing anything to the team. He had to go.

He was a top tier player for nearly 20 year. And he's the Clipper franchise's most successful and arguably best player ever. He's earned his voice.
But even if "he had to go", they could've handled it differently. Wait til he gets back from, meet with him, and craft a statement with CP's reps that says something along the lines of it being mutually parting of ways to allow Chris to pursue a title, blah blah blah.

That's the bottom line. It was handled unprofessionally. The fanbase might turn on them.

You can hold people accountable as a bench warmer as well, but you need some serious awareness and people skills for that. You must read the room, build the right rapport with the key players and coaches, develop trust, understand what you are allowed to say and when.
What you can't do is just demand people listen to you because of your past. There are too many people with an ego there, you'll inevitably clash.

What you makes you think the Clippers didn’t try to work things out? I seriously doubt Lue and Van Gundy turned on him on a dime. This had been building for months.
I’m a big CP3 fan, I have him top 20 all time, but the guy has always been a prick. Teams have only tolerated his control freak personality because of his on-court production. With that gone, there’s no reason for the players and coaches to sit there and take the abuse.

Again, even if they came to the conclusion that he had to go there was a different way to go about it that doesn't disrespect him/his legacy nor makes the franchise look highly unstable.

We're not turning on them (well, I can't speak for everyone), but many in the fanbase were already over Lawrence Frank, and this just added more people to the mix
